At Hawker, Chef's Jeff Merkel and Leah Steduto spotlight their naturalistic worldview with beautifully composed plant-based small plates, cocktails, and a thoughtfully curated list of vegan wines.

Located in Kensington Market, the cozy dining space features an earthy, palette of dark wood and moss. A picturesque, romantic back patio is naturally decorated with ivy. A front patio lets you enjoy the lively sights and sounds of the market.

All reservations have a 15 minute grace period. Please call us if you are arriving later than 15 minutes. Your table will be reserved for 1 hour 45 minutes for parties of 1-2; 2 hours for parties of 3-6; 2 hours 30 minutes for parties of 7 or more. If arriving late, we may not be able to extend your seating time if there are reservations scheduled after your allotted timeframe.

Please note, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill for groups of 6 or more.

Good food and service, well prepared dishes, but the balance of ingredients is a little lacking. Environment needs improvement, air conditioning doesn't work to accommodate customers

All the small plates, sides, and drinks are so creative and flavourful! Attentive but not overwhelming service. Pleasant ambience. Will definitely return.

It’s a good experience but not sure if the chef’s tasting menu is worth the money. I assumed the chefs tasting menu would have dishes outside of the regular menu but it was literally the same dishes in the menu explained by the chef in a few words. What’s the difference in ordering a la carte sitting at a table and the chefs tasting menu then? I’m not sure. None from my experience. As well, the wine tasting menu is subpar. There was no explanation as to why the wines were chosen for the dishes. We were told what the wine was but didn’t understand the purpose of the wine with the food. The food was pretty good though. Would recommend going with a group of friends and sharing plates.

Great tapas menu with incredible dishes. Two of us ate and we got 5 dishes to start and we were both satisfied by the end. If you’re really hungry and not petit then you might eat 5 on your own but the portions are not super duper small. FLAVOUR. It was really delicious

Absolutely beautiful food. Toronto has so many restaurants but so many of them are a bit disappointing and overpriced. Not so with Hawker. Our table of 4 sat in the back patio, where it was a relaxed and quiet. Each dish was so flavourful, artful. The servers were friendly, laid back yet professional, definitely we will be back. We all loved it!
