Hav & Mar is a vibrant seafood house from Chef Marcus Samuelsson located in the renowned arts district of Chelsea, NYC. The stunning dining room and dazzling bar, a mix of contemporary and classical design, features original work throughout by award-winning artist Derrick Adams. Chef Samuelsson and Executive Chef Fariyal Abdullahi's energetic and globally inspired menu focuses on thoughtfully sourced seafood and seasonal greenmarket produce. D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : Combinant son enfance suédoise et ses origines éthiopiennes, le célèbre chef Marcus Samuelsson offre aux New-yorkais·es un lieu innovant de cuisine fusion mettant les fruits de mer à l'honneur, et qui ne pouvait que venir de lui. The three-course, family-style menu will be served using items from the collection, and will highlight the inspirations behind both the food and designs: Marcus’s Ethiopian heritage, Swedish upbringing and New York City home base. This place is spectacular -- a true hidden gem. My wife and I honestly didn't know what to expect from Swedish/Ethiopian fusion (!), but we were intrigued enough to try it. Now we can't wait to come back. The flavors were amazing and unique. We shared cornbread, BBQ cauliflower, mushroom curry and a very generously-sized half chicken. Everything was cooked to perfection and we savored every bite. The service was excellent -- friendly and attentive. The ambiance is fun, modern, upbeat, comfortable and not at all pretentious. Prices are very reasonable for NY. Hav & Mar isn't just our favorite Swedish/Ethiopian restaurant, it has become our favorite restaurant in NY.

Delicious, creative food. One dish came cold and was quickly and apologetically replaced. Cocktails were exceptional too. Loved it!

The ambience was very nice. We chose the chef choice menu first course of breakfast, salad and ceviche was excellent. The main entree the red snapper and coconut rice I enjoyed. However the pasta dish was on the salty side. I did not enjoy it. The take on banana tiramisu was unpalatable we had to return it. In exchange we got the pumpkin donuts which was yummy. However if you don’t have desert it’s completely fine. The service was impeccable. Staff was friendly and attentive.

I had seen Hav & Mar on the show "On the Line" on the Bon Appetit channel. I was so taken by the energy the head chef was giving and the commitment to taste. I said when I go to New York, Hav & Mar will be on my "to-do" list. I got the Jubilee platter, bread basket and 7 Aunties greens. Every item was very flavorful. The fried monkfish was tasty and I absolutely loved the hummus on the flatbread. The restaurant's decor is beautiful and my overall experience was great. My teenage son was with me and his favorite item was the crab fried rice.
