Hav & Mar is a vibrant seafood house from Chef Marcus Samuelsson located in the renowned arts district of Chelsea, NYC. D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : Combinant son enfance suédoise et ses origines éthiopiennes, le célèbre chef Marcus Samuelsson offre aux New-yorkais·es un lieu innovant de cuisine fusion mettant les fruits de mer à l'honneur, et qui ne pouvait que venir de lui. it's a bar that happens to sell food. it's uneven, unpredictable, not well paced or thoughtful.

This was the most memorable and fabulous meal we’ve had in New York. The hospitality was unmatched, and the flavors of all the food were so unique and exciting. Run do not walk to this restaurant!

It's not good when you are given the worst table in the house. Right by the door and literally next to the service galley. Otherwise, the food was very good. Our waiter was good when he wanted to be good. Once the food was ordered and dropped off we couldn't find our waiter to save our lives. He would walk by but never looked our way even when we were trying to flag him down. Service really matters and finding the correct service people make or break a restaurant. For the poor service we had I would not come back to this restaurant which is unfortunate because the food was very good. There are too many great restaurants that have great service to waste time at a place that just does not care and have poorly trained staff.

Amazing food that really gets creative with mixing Ethiopian spices and cooking styles with seafood. Really recommend the Holy Molé cocktail as something unique. Great interior design and presentation of the food. Our server was also lovely and attentive.

This place is overrated -I think because the chef is a known entity. We arrived 1/2 hr early for a 5:30 reservation, and the hostess tried to give us the worst table (for two) in the place. She was slow to make us happy with a new place of which there were plenty - that soured us to the hospitality. I could have recovered if the food had been good, but it was only fair, masquerading as interesting. The cornbread was decent, and the sorbet was ok, but our fish and pasta dishes were disappointing. The wait staff was nice, though. Try someplace else.
