D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : Combinant son enfance suédoise et ses origines éthiopiennes, le célèbre chef Marcus Samuelsson offre aux New-yorkais·es un lieu innovant de cuisine fusion mettant les fruits de mer à l'honneur, et qui ne pouvait que venir de lui. Ces deux influences culinaires se conjuguent à merveille dans des plats tels que le saumon saumuré à la berbère accompagné d'eau de pomme et d'avocat, qui a valu à cet établissement prestigieux de Chelsea deux étoiles dans le New York Times. The three-course, family-style menu will be served using items from the collection, and will highlight the inspirations behind both the food and designs: Marcus’s Ethiopian heritage, Swedish upbringing and New York City home base. And there's always a chance that Marcus might swing by your table to say hi. Available for parties of 4-8 ppl. Excellent food. Could have done without the warning that we must be done by a certain time when people were late because of traffic and there were empty tables.

Spectacular food, very cool well designed space and the friendliest most knowledgeable staff. Food is incredible and unique and it was helpful to have a fabulous server who was clearly passionate about the menu and made our dining experience complete. Great spot for family, dates and groups!

Unique and delicious flavors, perfectly cooked to perfection. Strongly recommend the octopus a la planche and the crisp trio! Impeccable service and comfortable atmosphere. A must do after a day exploring the city!

Every dish was delish. The unique use of spices makes this as well as how well prepared the cuisine is delightful. Just fantastic. One and only drawback was our waiter. While vey nice and pleasant to interact with, his attentiveness was scare. Very long stretches where he never checked on us and we couldn’t spot him either. Regardless, highly recommended, you will not be disappointed.

We all agreed that this was, quite possibly, the best meal we’ve ever had in life. No one in our party can say that they’ve ever tasted better food than what we experienced at Hav & Mar last night.

The space is sterile, no comparison to Red Rooster. The service gets 5 stars for friendliness, but was no more than a 3, because it took forever for the main courses to arrive. The food was too similar to Red Rooster, where I love it, but I was expecting a fresh experience and a stronger Scandinavian element, since half the restaurant’s name is Swedish. Also, most of the dishes were exceedingly spicy. Maybe that represented the Ethiopian half, in which case Ethiopia conquered the place outright.
