We, Hashiri Bettei Kaiseki Aoki, deliver the experience of “kaiseki ryori,” a type of Japanese fine dining which historically developed to be served in the Japanese tea room. The tea room, as a space, symbolizes the home of the Japanese tea ceremony, a simple yet transformative experience offering a pause in time to appreciate the seemingly small experience of sharing tea. As such, we’ve designed both the architecture and the experience, to condense an infinite expanse into an extremely small space.

The space is designed sans distracting elements. Lighting will be subtle and architectural details are clean yet warm. Designed to allow dishes to remain the focal point of the experience, our space represents the endless potential for an intimate dining experience that continues to linger on pallet and in mind well after the end.

We would like to invite you to the exquisite of evenings, accompanied by a subtle, yet lively celebration of the Japanese cuisine. Maintaining the delicate balance between seasonality and California’s seemingly endless mild weather, we emphasize the beauty of the quiet passing of time by using seasonal ingredients in a simple, yet elegant manner. Our Kaiseki Tasting menu is $280 per person, not including beverages, service, tax or gratuity. ***PLEASE TEXT US AT 650-885-1242 REGARDING YOUR DIETARY RESTRICTIONS PRIOR YOUR RESERVATION IF WE ARE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR REQUEST. We are not able to eliminate soy, wheat, rice, sea salt, fish and sea plant allergies. We use Wagyu Beef, Crustaceans, almond and sesame in the menu.

We went there to have a bday celebration and the host and chef even the people that we first met there has been amazing. It has been one of the best dining experience that we had. Strongly recommend!

An amazing sushi experience like no other in the Bay Area! The restaurant is a single sushi bar (9 seats total) with one seating a night. The service was outstanding and very personal. The food was unique and delicious. There are many food and drink items here that you can’t get anywhere else in the area. Prepare for a long night though - this is not a quick bite but rather a truly divine experience and intimate evening!

I made a reservation here for my wife's birthday, based on past reviews of their previous location as well as current ones. While I wasn't sure what to expect based on the available photos, I was excited to see how the experience would compare to the ones I've had at numerous ryoutei in Japan. I can say, without a doubt, that the experience at Hashiri Bettei Kaiseki Aoki met or exceeded everything about my previous experiences in Japan. The food is meticulously prepared and presented, and absolutely delicious. Since my Japanese is barely conversational, it's a huge plus that they speak English fluently and go into great detail when explaining how the food is sourced from Japan and why they make the decisions they do when selecting products. When entering the restaurant, I got instant Japan vibes. It is clean, sparse, and the counter, which appears handmade out of a very interesting-feeling wood, only seats 9 guests. They only have one meal service per day and expend all of their energy and focus their attention on those 9 guests. If you cannot make it to Japan, actually, even if you can make it to Japan, Hashiri Bettei Kaiseki Aoki is not to be missed. If you have an upcoming occasion that you need to plan, that person in your life will feel really special. And try the Iwa 5 junmai daiginjou nihonshu with your meal -- it's amazing!
