The Hartwood Restaurant enjoys a rich history. The originally the headquarters of the Harmar Coal Company. Purchased in 1988, the building was transformed into retail space, including antiques and a bookstore. Café tables were soon added amongst the book shelves, Over the years, The Hartwood Restaurant has evolved into a charming and unique place for meals, drinks, and events. The elegant dining rooms and a pub featuring hand-tooled woodwork and stained glass artwork.
The Hartwood also features outdoor dining in a garden-like atmosphere, complete with a wood burning fireplace. Whisper’s Pub features an eclectic wine list from around the world with more than a dozen different wines by the glass, as well as seasonal cocktails, craft beers, and wine flights.
Enjoy the many different spaces our restaurant has to offer, including the intimate tables in our dining rooms, Whisper's Pub, dining al fresco, and private rooms for parties. It's the perfect location for your next meal or event.

Had been wanting to go here for a while and so glad we did. The building is gorgeous inside and out. Food was excellent and service was outstanding. Highly recommend and will most certainly be back.

Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable with the menu and offered perfect pairings. The kitchen got food out quickly. We were able to sit outside next to the fire which was a great atmosphere. The pricing was very reasonable with the food being amazing.

Another wonderful experience with you and your staff, although we did feel a bit pressured at the end of our lunch to finish and leave when we were enjoying a nice reunion with old friends we had not seen in a long time, and the restaurant was empty, we felt there was no real reason for us to hurry. The amount of time it would have taken to reset our table for the dinner hour which did not start for quite some time, seemed to be minimal.

We had a wonderful dinner at Lobster Fest. We both had the lobster tail and it was perfect. My best friend from kindergarten and I meet a couple times a year and usually have dinner at The Hartwood. Our dinners there have always been very good but Lobster fest was the highlight. Beautiful restaurant; would make a fantastic location for any special event such as a wedding. Our server, Lauren, was excellent. We will definitely return.

Just enjoyed another delicious meal at the Hartwood. Get the risotto-you won’t be sorry! Our party of six had excellent and attentive service from Alexis, and the hostess, Liz, greeted us warmly and sat us right away. Thank you for a lovely evening!

I wish I remember the waiters name, but he was outstanding. The food was just as good and we had a great time.

Have not been there few years. Went frequently 20 years ago before kids. Even with change of ownership(maybe twice?) our experience last night was exceptional, just like before. Wonderful coincidence that they seated us at the table for 6 with a padded bench to the side where my baby girl would sleep years ago while my husband and I were treated to a lovely dinner! Present day food and service were superb. Husband had pork special and I had filet. Guests loved their meals as well. Love the bookstore ambience that is still there! One of the sous chefs brought out portions of the meal and she was delightful to talk to. The employees seem very happy with their work which translates to outstanding hospitality. Will definitely be back! I think we found our new favorite restaurant now that we are empty nesters:)

Our food and service was great. A very nice quiet dinner. We had the Devonshire and Halibut and shared the peach bar. All were extremely enjoyable. Our server Ia.. was very attentive.
