On May 13, 1931, Giuseppe Cipriani opened Harry's Bar in Venice. Over the years, Harry's Bar has become the place where writers, painters, artists, aristocrats, kings, and queens would meet. Among them were: Barbara Hutton, Katherine Hepburn, Gary Cooper, Giancarlo Menotti, Peggy Guggenheim, Orson Welles, Frank Lloyd Wright, Joe DiMaggio, Truman Capote, and Ernest Hemingway. The keys to the success of this small bar were: service, freedom, and lack of imposition.

Throughout its 93-year history, Harry's Bar has witnessed the 20th century in Venice. Its importance was also recognized by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, which declared it a national reference point in 2001. No other public place in Italy had received the same award in the same century.

So happy we reserved a table in advance. I had the polenta and liver with onions……. Traditional Venice meal. For liver lovers only…… the best I ever had! Our waiter was so professional as was the gentleman at the front of the restaurant. The most chocolate fudge cake ever was stupendous and my husbands pasta was wonderful as well. Must go, have a Bellini but really must stay for lunch or dinner….With reservations of course!

As, advertised, Bellinis and carpaccio were terrific an the desserts spectacular.

Harry's Bar in Venice is renowned for its elegant ambiance and exceptional service, making it a top choice for food and drinks. In contrast, Cipriani's restaurant in Monte Carlo cannot match the quality found at Harry's Bar.

We went during a weekday afternoon for drinks and apps, and the drink, food and service were amazing. However, there was a man at a nearby table that was loudly and rudely talking on his cellphone the entire time which kinda ruined the vibes.

La salade n'était pas assaisonnée les pâtes etaient sans goût et le parmesan compté. Pour 100€/p pas franchement recommandable.

This is a place where not only is food and service great, but where you can make friends as everyone there is excited to be in this classic restaurant that never fails to excite! Grazie!

Deeply disappointed by our visit. It was supposed to be a lovely birthday dinner that turned into a disaster visit. We came earlier but were promptly appointed to a table. We got a table squeezed in between two other tables full of guests (all on cell phones), I almost sat on lady’s lap and my partner was in between other two women at the next table. Space was as nonexistent and we were breathing at each other’s neck. Very uncomfortable. Red wine in tumblers, like juice at kids bday parties. No excuse for “old school” ambiance. Overpriced food even for Venice and similar establishments. (One beyond irritating young loud American over took whole space that is very small anyways. She really pushed it and waiters didn’t tell her to lower down as she wasn’t in Mc Donalds.) Definitely NOT worth booking, waiting, coming, ordering, “enjoying”. Do not recommend. Staff beyond nice, polite, caring and attentive from GM to general staff. They were wonderful. Just by chance found out that there is an upper dining room nobody mentions with fab views over the Grand Canal and a whole other experience. Went to the ladies room and took a look by chance… Maybe try booking “upstairs” for a decent table and a bit more “real” dining experience. But still the same menu. Overall, beyond disappointing and way overpriced. We have visited some “old charm places” around the world but by far this one is the worst overall experience. Gutted and sad. It was supposed to be a highlight of our trip that turned into paying and leaving quicky with absolutely no wish to return or recommend.

Man muss mal dort gewesen sein…und das war es dann auch schon… Wer den weltberühmten Bellini um 22€ im Kindersaftglas trinkt…selber schuld….wer dort isst….um ein Vermögen….selber schuld! Weit weg von einem Haubenniveau aber genau auf dem Preislevel!!! Also für alle die meinen ‚Man muss mal dort gewesen sein‘ NEIN muss man nicht!!! Für das Geld bekommt man wo anders Top Essen mit Top Service und Top Ambiente!!

Es war so wunderschön und der Gast ist dort wie früher noch König. Das wundervolle Ambiente und die Speisen sind jeden Euro wert. Immer, gerne wieder.
