On May 13, 1931, Giuseppe Cipriani opened Harry's Bar in Venice. Over the years, Harry's Bar has become the place where writers, painters, artists, aristocrats, kings, and queens would meet. Among them were: Barbara Hutton, Katherine Hepburn, Gary Cooper, Giancarlo Menotti, Peggy Guggenheim, Orson Welles, Frank Lloyd Wright, Joe DiMaggio, Truman Capote, and Ernest Hemingway. The keys to the success of this small bar were: service, freedom, and lack of imposition.

Throughout its 93-year history, Harry's Bar has witnessed the 20th century in Venice. Its importance was also recognized by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, which declared it a national reference point in 2001. No other public place in Italy had received the same award in the same century.

Waited over 45 mins even with a reservation to be serviced. Patiently waited at bar as we saw older couples be seated before us that arrived after us. Easy to see they gave preferential treatment towards older folks. Tables too cramp. Drinks overpriced. Come here for the hype, but be aware of the lack of value.

LOST ITS CHARMED. Avoid if you have a Cipriani at home. Came here a few years back and had an amazing experience. Trying to recreate it as it was our anniversary & informed them ahead of time about the table we would like. Arrived on time & still waited 40 MINUTES to get a crappy table no where near what was requested. We’re set next to the staff service station(keep on bumping on us throughout dinner without any acknowledgement) Worst is that most guests around us were loud obnoxious Americans that only ordered desserts after looking at the price on the menu(Do your research 1st before booking for a meal here) Anniversary RUINED!

Somewhat friendly. This place is a scene where everyone is checking each other out — no possibility for private conversation. Food was both great and mediocre. The special sole was awful but the pasta with ham and melted cheese was delicious. The service was meh, my husband wanted to order a drink with dinner but was never asked. I came for the Bellini and was not disappointed. I wish I had left after the Bellini, though.

It was fun, but service was a little slow and the room was quite tightly packed in terms of tables.

Way overpriced for no reason. A small portion of pasta sold 50€ .. cocktails good though nothing more than other great cocktails bars at twice the price … just not worth.

Service was great. Given that the place was practically empty, we had low expectations once seated. The upstairs was very warm and stuffy. Same with downstairs. I wish they would’ve opened a window or had ventilation. Food was better than we thought it would be.

Excellent experience ! Food and drinks specially Bellini were amazing! The Carpaccio was the best I had tasted !
