Food was awful -- overcooked and terrible taste-- and highly overpriced. Music was too loud.. Beautiful space, but our food was just not good.

Everyone in our party enjoyed their appetizers and entrees. A little pricey for “low country” food.

Hanks is a gem on the Cbus dining scene - if you like seafood this is a must visit. When we lived in Charleston, SC the original Hanks was one of our favorite places and the Charleston food scene is huge. Cocktails are flavorful and well made. We ended up ordering 2 dozen oysters as they were so wonderful. I had the tuna, my husband had the scallops and our friends had the Seafood a la Wando. (Wando is the name of a river in Charleston.) We all agreed our dinners were incredible. My tuna was quite spicy which I loved but others may not the way I did. For desert we shared key lime pie and the sorbet trio. All great. I forget our servers name but he was wonderful. My only negative was that we were seated in the bar area which on a Saturday evening was pretty loud and made it tough on dinner conversation. The ambience is lovely and location also good. Valet parking available but there is a parking garage a block away. Cannot wait to go back!

My wife gave a hint about this place via group text, and I jumped on it. So we walked in on Saturday a bit after 6 and got seated. The food...WOW!! I had the Seafood a la Wando (stew) and though I'm not a real fan of scallops, I became one immediately. Took the grit cake that came with the dish and mashed it up as if I was eating shrimp and grits. My wife had the beef tenderloin, and man, it was soooo tender! She really enjoyed it. The came dessert with the Key Lime Pie. Once again, right on point! We'll definitely be back to visit, and thanks to our server, Kyle for making us feel right at home (we'll be asking for him, too!). Thanks for a great first experience!

Very nice ambiance for a wonderful dinner at a great value. The seafood is fresh and delicious. The host staff were welcoming, the service team professional and attentive.

We had a lovely time celebrating my fiancée’s birthday at Hanks.. However, we were slightly disappointed by our experience at Hank’s. For the price point, I would hope the quality of cooking would be more enjoyable. I ordered the sautéed cod, and the fish was hard to eat due to the amount of bones left in the filet. I know that Cod is a fish with large bones that are relatively easy to get out with proper prep time, so it was a shame to have to take out so many bones from each bite. The grit cake and sauce were delightful. My fiancee enjoyed her shrimp and grits, and the fried oysters with blue cheese and honey were great. However, we really came to Hank’s to enjoy the raw bar, which also left us disappointed. The oysters were not properly prepared. When eating a raw oyster, you like to have the water from the inside, and all of that had either fallen out or been dumped out. There were large pieces of shell in the meat, and the larger Atlantic oysters did not taste very fresh. As a matter of fact, they tasted slightly off putting which, when paying over 20 dollars for just 6 oysters, was sad. Not that anyone should expect free stuff, but nothing was done to make the birthday feel special which I would expect from a restaurant with such high prices and ambience. We have been to Hank’s in Charleston and it just wasn’t the same. Overall, we spent more than a couple hundred dollars for 2 people for a birthday celebration and were disappointed by most of what we ate. Service was excellent, as were the decor and ambience, but the quality of food should be better for the price customers pay.

Celebrating a birthday- was greeted by hostess with birthday greeting. Would not allow a diner to substitute side. Used to being able to do so at other restaurants- especially Cameron Mitchell ones. Did not care for sides for the swordfish entree. Did not offer complimentary dessert which other restaurants do for birthday celebrations.
