Our owner, Chef Richard Hales a four generation Tampa family since 1954, is back in his hometown of Tampa after 25 years away mastering Asian cuisine, opening award winning restaurants and appearing on the Food Network; beloved by the likes of Guy Fieri. Our seasonal menu features Asian techniques using the fi nest ingredients and availability of locally sourced produces. Chef Hales’ invites you to experience eclectic ambiance, elevated service and his version of Chinese cuisine.

    We have been to Hale’s Blackbrick many times, and have always enjoyed the food immensely. Recently when we asked our adult son where he would like to meet us for my Birthday dinner he said Blackbrick. He is a bit of a cocktail snob, and very definitely particular about his food, so we were quite happy about his choice. The dim sum appetizers are amazing and always a wonderful start to the meal, and the salt and pepper shrimp simply a must have every time. The three things that truly stood out this visit that made it our favorite so far: the Tomahawk Ribeye special, which was AMAZING….cooked perfectly with this incredible char and smokey sauce; the chocolate cake dessert, which was dark, fudgey, and decadent and more than enough for three of us; and our delightful server Zoe who was attentive, warm, and fun without being smothering. It was that perfect harmony of great food, great drinks, and great service that seems to be so elusive these days…..happy birthday to me.

    Nice variety of dishes to choose from. Table presentation was good. Everyone got to sample each dish. The food was very good. The specialty drinks were tasty and the wine was superb. Our server was quite interesting and attentive. I would go back.

    Wow - really wanted Dim Sum and I was not disappointed. Loved it - service was so good - funky fun vibe - already planning to go back this weekend for Dim Sum Sunday!

    This restaurant has the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. The dishes are creative, the spice blends are exotic and the menu presents a wide range of options. The dishes we had included: Salt and Pepper Shrimp, Truffle fried rice, soup dumplings, Duck Breast, dim sum sampler and more. Everything was outstanding! I can't wait to go back!

    Everybody writes about the Tampa culinary changes. I don't think any of them can follow through. Hales is the real deal and they are on point consecutively. Every place is is less hit and more miss.

    The best thing we had were the overpriced martinis at the bar and it was downhill from there. We had reservations but had to wait 45 minutes for a table. They tried to remedy by comping with the cheapest bottle of champagne. All the shrimp dishes were awful-the shrimp didn’t taste fresh at all. We found hair in the dumplings and they wanted to give us more dumplings! They claim to have amazing egg rolls and they were honestly the worst I ever had. I wanted to love it but frankly will not need to go back.
