Gwen Butcher Shop & Restaurant is the second restaurant from fine dining chef Curtis Stone (of Maude) and the first he’s opened with his brother Luke Stone. Gwen is both a European-style, chef-driven butcher shop and a restaurant that is redefining dining in LA, with a menu that calls on fire-based cooking techniques. Whether you’re picking up house-made charcuterie, prime and rare breed meats from the retail store, enjoying a feast in the dining room or relaxing with a bite and cocktail at the bar, Gwen delivers the highest standards of quality, taste and service.

On Wednesdays-Sundays, we offer Chef's Carte Blanche 5-course tasting menu for $130 per person (limited quantities available). D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : À la fois boucherie haut de gamme et steakhouse, Gwen est l'œuvre de Curtis Stone et de son frère Luke Stone. Cette expérience étoilée Michelin est un éloge de tout ce qui a trait à la viande : la salle, spectaculaire, est entourée de séchoirs vitrés et pourvue d'une cheminée centrale. On peut y déguster de la charcuterie maison, des pâtes à la bolognaise de bacon et des steaks impressionnants, comme la côte de bœuf de Creekstone Farm, maturée pendant 30 jours.

Been here a couple times and it’s definitely overhyped. Unfortunately the air conditioning was BLASTING at around 62 degrees or colder on a cold autumn night and the manager refused to adjust, so in addition to having to wear jackets inside and my date freezing, we couldn’t enjoy our meat fresh from the fire while hot- Asked for the rib eye medium rare, it comes very rare, waiter never came to ask how it’s going. Other than that, the squash blossom side dish was basically half a cup and extremely salty, and a mediocre not very fresh dungeoness crab salad, crab is supposed to taste like crab, not old fish. Definitely a degraded experience since the 1st time in 2022. Really, so many amazing other meat specialized restaurants in L.A. that sadly I can’t recommend this. I do understand its appeal for it’s beautiful interior “for the gram” though…

We finally made it to Gwen. And what an experience it was. Delicious. Fun. Beautiful. Great wine. Exquisite glasses. Great staff. So worth it. We will be back soon.

Service was pretty good and sitting at the chef's counter was a nice experience, but the food wasn't quite at the level we were expecting for a Michelin star and 101 best steak restaurants. The charcuterie, oysters, and lobster rice were pretty good but not mind blowing. I would have been okay with that since the steak was the main event for me. Unfortunately, the 30 day Creekstone Ribeye didn't deliver as it was too chewy. Overall, I don't think it merits the price or the hype. I won't be returning or recommending.

Our Waiter DJ was the best! His knowledge of the menu and suggestions are spot on. Overall Gwen was fantastic, a Chef Curtis Stone's restaurant made a plus.

Everything was amazing; service at the bar and tableside left nothing to be desired and the food and drinks were perfect. We can’t wait to come back!

We were seated in the garden room connected to main dining room and the tables were really close and acoustics made it so the couple beside us could hear our conversation and we could hear theirs. Even the guy eating next to us made a comment since we were so close together.

Great food but a very impersonal experience. Both the starters and steak were very enjoyable, but the waiter spent so little time attending to our needs that we didn’t have time to express that we were celebrating a birthday. Huge missed opportunity.

The food was fantastic, but the specialty cocktails were underwhelming. The dill gimlet didn’t taste like dill, it seemed like a basic gimlet. The espresso martini was below average. The steak tartare was incredible. Our server was very friendly but the service was lacking. We were sat and not given menus for 5 minutes, which was weird. It took a long time to order my second drink and it took a long time for it to come out. I asked the person who brought our main course to check on it and she seemed annoyed and told me she works in the kitchen. The food was good, but I’m surprised they have a Michelin star because the service was off. Our server made up for the slow service with his good vibes but, the woman who brought our food left a bad taste in my mouth.
