Gwen Butcher Shop & Restaurant is the second restaurant from fine dining chef Curtis Stone (of Maude) and the first he’s opened with his brother Luke Stone. Gwen is both a European-style, chef-driven butcher shop and a restaurant that is redefining dining in LA, with a menu that calls on fire-based cooking techniques. Whether you’re picking up house-made charcuterie, prime and rare breed meats from the retail store, enjoying a feast in the dining room or relaxing with a bite and cocktail at the bar, Gwen delivers the highest standards of quality, taste and service.

On Wednesdays and Thursdays, our chefs will be offering a 5-course tasting menu for $185 per person if you reserve the chef’s counter. The whole party must enjoy the tasting menu, however, à la carte dining is available as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the restaurant at 323-946-7500.

À la fois boucherie haut de gamme et steakhouse, Gwen est l'œuvre de Curtis Stone et de son frère Luke Stone. L'expérience est un éloge de tout ce qui a trait à la viande : la salle, spectaculaire, est entourée de séchoirs vitrés et pourvue d'une cheminée centrale. On peut y déguster de la charcuterie maison, des pâtes à la bolognaise de bacon et des steaks impressionnants, comme la côte de bœuf de Creekstone Farm, maturée pendant 30 jours.

They forgot one of our steaks, and it’s a little pricey. But it was also the best meal I’ve ever eaten in my life

You expect to be introduced to a formal dining experience, but that wasn’t the case, a relax atmosphere and the servers know there menu and encourage sharing plates was a big surprise, we had a couple of plates of each section and we were not disappointed. The gnocchi was on point and the New York and duck fat potato can’t go wrong, and can’t forget about the charcuterie plate. Oh and the water menu was nice as well.

Angelica is a very good server. We had a flatiron steak that was stellar. The cream corn was very good but we didn’t like the asparagus risotto. The bread and butter were very good

Truly delicious! We had three sides with the hanger steak and NY strip. Cooked perfectly. Service was amazing! The knife selection was a nice fun touch. The waiter a couple of drops of my cocktail which was totally fine, but because of that they gave us our dessert for free. Just next level service and thoughtfulness. It’s a must try and will certainly return.

Simply outstanding. Found out I need pretty severe neck surgery so I decided to treat myself to a meal I’ve been thinking about for awhile before I’m laid up and can’t leave the apt for week. The chefs and staff didn’t disappoint and they had no idea what I was doing or why. They really made one memorable experience in light of a rough road ahead. Understated location, beautiful design, exceptional food and impeccable service. Make your own memorable experience.

Excellent experience with wonderful food. Yes, not the cheapest in the world but if you want an amazing food experience (we had the taster menu with wine pairing) for a special occasion, I would thoroughly recommend, it as the staff are also extremely communicative and helpful.

A Delightful Evening with Room for Improvement My recent visit to Gwen was a truly enjoyable experience. The food was delightful and showcased the chef's talent. However, a few aspects could be improved to elevate the service to a Michelin-star level. Accessibility of Guest Preferences: It would be beneficial if guest reservation notes were readily available to servers. This would allow for a more personalized touch from the start, ensuring dietary restrictions or preferences are considered seamlessly. Menu Presentation: Presenting both the Tasting Menu and the standard menu simultaneously during the initial explanation would streamline the selection process. Guests wouldn't need to inquire about the Tasting Menu separately, and the server could readily introduce the wine pairing option that typically accompanies it. Unfortunately, feeling rushed to make a decision prevented us from exploring the wine pairing, which would have likely enhanced the tasting menu experience. Overall, Gwen has the potential to be a truly exceptional restaurant. With a few adjustments to ensure a smoother and more personalized service flow, they could undoubtedly reach for that coveted second Michelin star.
