Guu Tramasa will keep the concept of “For your daily re-charging spot” of all Guu Izakaya and introduce Osaka street food to Vancouver locals.

Osaka is the second largest city in Japan after Tokyo. During the Edo period (1603-1867), Osaka was known as the “kitchen of the nation” and the center of commerce in Japan, where rice and other specialty products were traded. With this background, Osaka’s unique culinary culture has developed, and the region is still crowded with tourists from Japan and abroad, who enjoy both traditional dishes and inexpensive street food.

The two staff members who manage Tramasa are originally from Osaka, which led to the creation of Guu Toramasa based on the theme of Osaka’s food culture.

    We’ve been to this Guu location many times and we are always satisfied with it. However this time the air conditioning wasn’t working well and our drinks all sweated and tasteless. We hope the owner could fix the air conditioning system because right now it’s still the first half of July only. We also noticed the portion of some dishes went smaller compared to our last couple visits.

    Food and service was really good. The AC was broken and there were no fans to help beat the heat. The servers were very apologetic but we understand that it was not their fault.

    I went for dinner with my son before the Snoop Dogg concert. The service was efficient and very attentive. My son absolutely loved his Snow White Virgin cocktail and every bite of food was wonderful.

    This is our go to Japanese Izakaya restaurant. We have known one of the chefs for years and he never lets us down with the special menu. We recommend taking advantage of the “3 for” appetizers. Although not a sushi restaurant we had the mackerel pieces tonight and it was amazing! If you are timid about Japanese dishes, get the chicken Karage. Basically it may be the best fried chicken in town.

    Very hot in restaurant. Need to crank up the air conditioner. Otherwise great food and service.

    Always have a great time at Guu Tora Masa! It is so easy to make a reservation online. It was just my wife and myself on this visit, but the good thing about this Guu location is they can take larger parties. We have had a group of 9 before. We often order off the "fresh" menu that changes daily. Park on Richards, it was less than $2.50 for two hours.

    I love everything about this restaurant - from the lovely people that work there to the delicious food. We ordered 4 dishes for 2 people (plenty) and even had to take some of it home with us. Close to the Orpheum, this will be our go-to restaurant whenever we see a show.
