The Guest service was top tier when it comes to hospitality. The food was good however felt the menu was limited. Down fall would be wine list for the kinda menu/restaurant they are.

I really want to love the place, but my experience was just mediocre. We had reservations for 5pm but arrived a bit early (4:45), so sat at the bar and just decided to eat there. Ambiance was great. Perfect view of the chefs working their magic and the bar has all the bourbons a guy could ask for. My friend ordered the KC Dry Aged Strip ($98) and I took the suggestion of the bartender to go with the prime rib as I really like Prime Rib and it has been a while since I have had it. Food came out without too much wait, as we were one of three tables in the place, but my food was the incorrect steak. I was served the plain NY strip. Apparently bartender keyed in Prime Strip vs Prime Rib. This is where it goes a bit sideways. I now have to wait for my new meal as my buddy eats his. They rush a new Prime rib and I get a semi warm prime rib that is more rare than medium rare. To be fair, my buddy loved his steak. Raved about it, while I had a room temperature prime rib. Nothing was done, other than a “sorry about that”, and we have a $340 tab including tip. I get things happen, but when you come to Chicago for an amazing steak and this is your experience, it just kinda blows. The previous year we went to Gibson’s steakhouse and it was incredible. Everything was top shelf, including the service, so I guess that is where I go back to when coming into Chicago.

My partner and I travel to Chicago from Rhode Island specifically to eat at GT Prime. We eat red meat only once or twice a year and GT Prime is where we go. On our most recent trip we were greeted and welcomed by the maitre'd, seated quickly and promptly give menus. We ordered a dry aged Kansas City strip steak done at Rare+, Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. We shared all the dishes. Our steak was, as always, perfectly done. It's melt-in-your-mouth quality was superb. The side dishes were equally delicious. Upon our arrival the maitre'd asked if we were celebrating an occasion and we told him about coming to Chicago JUST to eat at GT Prime. We enjoyed chatting with him and he came to the table later to check on us. At that time he told us that he was going to comp us dessert. We ordered a spicy pumpkin souffle and it arrived at the table piping hot and was accompanied by a slice of Key Lime Pie. This is a most amazing restaurant and we highly recommend it to everyone. We rave about it to all our friends and family and encourage everyone to dine there.

Me and my coworker shared a large, bone-in ribeye and it was worth it. We weren’t that hungry but wanted to experience a great steak and GT did not disappoint.

We had a great evening. So happy we were able to sit up on the Mezz. Ariel’s service was outstanding. She was very attentive and met all our needs. When I come back I would ask for her to be the one to take care of us. The whole time and food was outstanding. Thank you Ariel and the GT steak house team.

The service was fantastic. GT had a great atmosphere and good food. We had the ribeye and veal which were not anything out of this world but definitely delicious. However, if you’re on a budget, there are many cheaper options with food just as good. The ambience is a different story, this place was amazing.
