The Greenhead Hotel was taken over in June 2020 by local proprietor Jordan Dodwell & his partner Anna Pearson. After a complete refurb they opened the doors on the 14th August 2020.

Head Chef, Dan, & his young, eager team use the finest ingredients available using local butchers, suppliers and even forage in the nearby woodland. During the shooting season we source game from the local shoot which features on our specials board.

Situated on the Northumberland and Cumbrian border, with Hadrian's wall on our doorstep, the hotel offers a cosy drinking area with locally sourced ale, a chic restaurant serving homemade classic pub food with a modern twist and 7 newly refurbished dog friendly en-suite guest bedrooms, alongside a 45 bed Hostel, providing the perfect base for your trip.

Absolutely delicious, by far the best food in the area. The upmarket bistro is beautifully decorated and furnished. The tables offer privacy to converse without feeling overlooked by others dining too. The food was superbly presented and absolutely delicious fabulous fishcakes and the steak and stout pie with roasted vegetables are divine! The staff are so lovely and couldn't be more helpful. Will definitely be back .Thank you x

Lovely meal, plate looked good as well as tasted good. Staff very friendly and attentive, but not ott. Complimentary bread to start which is a nice touch Plenty of choice, we didn't have starters, but chose steak frites and the lamb. We then couldn't resist the sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and ice cream. Just finished off the meal nicely. Don't have the usual beers , but have a good selection of specialist ones and extensive wine list. We had a medium glass of red wine and a bottle of cider. Total with 10% service charge was nearly £89. Would go back for a special occasion.

A meal for a family birthday, 1st time visiting. Lovely decorated place, great staff really pleasant and helpfull, and the food was to die for. We will be back.

We had yet another outstanding meal. The ragu starter was delicious, the burgers are beautiful but the lamb was outstanding! Hats off to the chefs. The waitresses are all knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and efficient nothing is a problem for them. I would highly recommend a visit.

This is a first class restaurant, everything we had was perfectly cooked and presented and tasted delicious. I’m sorry we were only staying one night, but I’d definitely come again when next in Northumberland.

A wonderful meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Absolutely fabulous food, beautifully presented and just so tasty! I should’ve taken photos but we were too busy enjoying every morsel! Soufflé starter was to die for and the beef ragu starter was melt in the mouth delicious! Steaks were perfectly cooked and juicy and the desserts, coffee cream and lovage parfait were divine - something a little bit different from the norm! The staff were friendly, happy and attentive and the whole evening was just perfect! Thank you!
