The Greenhead Hotel was taken over in June 2020 by local proprietor Jordan Dodwell & his partner Anna Pearson. After a complete refurb they opened the doors on the 14th August 2020.

Head Chef, Dan, & his young, eager team use the finest ingredients available using local butchers, suppliers and even forage in the nearby woodland. During the shooting season we source game from the local shoot which features on our specials board.

Situated on the Northumberland and Cumbrian border, with Hadrian's wall on our doorstep, the hotel offers a cosy drinking area with locally sourced ale, a chic restaurant serving homemade classic pub food with a modern twist and 7 newly refurbished dog friendly en-suite guest bedrooms, alongside a 45 bed Hostel, providing the perfect base for your trip.

Excellent food with a lovely informal atmosphere, I am dairy intolerant and the menu was excellent with plenty of options for me. My husband had steak, I had the chicken ( adapted for dairy free) , both were very good as was the service. We will definitely be back. We were staying for a couple of nights, they are so dog friendly and provide an excellent breakfast as well.

Food was incredible, so incredible we had 4 courses and didn’t leave a scrap. Service was very good, with the only minor criticism is that at times glasses took a while to be cleared up. Outstanding young team. Will DEFINITELY be back

We love the Greenhead. The food is always beautifully cooked and a bit different to the usual run of the mill pub food. Nice decor throughout the pub. Only criticism is too many dogs in the bar area. We have a dog but don’t find it necessary to take him out to lunch.

Great value steak offer on Thursday. Happy to accommodate our fussy taste in wine. Very good service. Chatty helpful staff. Really like the Greenhead hotel

Very good overall, only slight thing was that the service to bring menus, take orders and bring drinks was a little slow but very polite and the food and drinks were excellent.

absolutely exquisite meal, the atmosphere was electric and would one hundred percent recommend. the food was delicious and so filling, the sunday roast was out of this world with the beef being cooked to absolute perfection. if you have not been to this establishment i must insist you visit! will be coming again.
