In the heart of the East Devon countryside, surrounded by acres of farmland, you'll find the award-winning Greendale Farm Shop and it's family-friendly café & restaurant. The Greendale Farm Shop Café and Restaurant is much loved by visitors and locals alike. We offer a new extensive menu, created around many of the items sold in our shop and showcasing local produce from our farm and fishing boats. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are no problem and we have a children's menu for the little ones, too. We offer breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as tea and coffee, delicious cakes and Devon cream teas.

Once you've eaten why not take a stroll along our family farm trail. The trails follow a level path that’s just right for pushchairs and little legs where you can say hello to all of the animals, including Oscar the Ostrich.

On Sunday and Monday evenings, from 3.30pm, our restaurant serves from our extensive fish and chip menu only.

We arrived late in the evening so most people had finished their food. Menu small but good choices. Portions were huge but delicious. Staff friendly and helpful.

When we arrived we were greeted by a very polite waitress. She welcomed us and before taking us to our table she informed us there would be a wait of over an hour for food. Sadly we decided that a wait of over an hour for food was unacceptable and we left and went hone. We did ask why it would be over an hour and she told us that they were short on chefs today, but she did seem a bit unsure. She was very polite and apologic the whole time. We have eaten at Greendale a few times before and the food has always been good, but there has always been a little longer than usual wait for food. We just felt that to be told that the wait would be over an hour before we even sat down, by the time we had sat down and order how long would the wait actually be to get food. Our table was booked for 1.45pm and we arrived on time.

Met with a gruff welcome at reception. Order taker was helpful & food actually arrived will within the time frame given. 2 of our table of six ordered fish of the day. The fish was fine, but there was an issue with the quality of the Samphire, which we queried with a server, who went to speak to the chef. The server returned with a message from the chef “that’s how it’s supposed to be”. Our big issue with the situation was that nobody senior came to speak to us, it was just left to the server to relay a disinterested message.

Only one of the children’s meals came out I itally. Had to chase twice. Children’s meals (pasta) very poor value, other food was nice.

Food was lovely. But unfortunately i asked for a diet coke as my daughter is type 1 diabetic so it's very important these things are right. Turns up after a very fast high rise blood sugar drinking half of it it wasn't diet coke! I told the bar staff to be told well it could have been human error with a tut these things are very important to get right. She was very rude. I later paid and said can i have the receipt to the same lady with attitude saying well you didn't ask for one such awful attitude and such a let down to this place. Didn't catch her name but she has a brown bob haircut. The place would be alot better without that attitude and some understanding of other peoples needs. Very disappointed
