Chef Owner, Tong Chee Hwee, former Group Executive Head Chef of Hakkasan, has returned to launch Gouqi, an Award-Winning, Fine Dining Chinese restaurant located at 25-34 Cockspur Street, St James's opposite the Canadian Embassy, Trafalgar Square.

The restaurant name derives from the goji berry, a symbol of health and vitality that inspires the ethos of the restaurant. Using premium produce sourced from around the globe, the menu offers an abundance of flavours, techniques, and ingredients. The Berri Bar offers Asian inspired cocktails and an eclectic wine list.

Gouqi seats 100 guests, including 2 private interconnecting dining rooms; Crimson & Ruby, which seat 10 and 12, or combine to accommodate up to 22 guests.

Pre-orders required: Legendary Peking Duck 24hrs, Emperor’s Lobster Soup with Rice Pin Noodle and Crispy Rice 24hrs, Dim Sum Afternoon Tea 24hrs, and Live Norwegian King Crab 72hrs.

Gouqi has two interconnecting private dining rooms; Crimson & Ruby, which seat 12 and 10, and combine to accommodate up to 22 guests. For standing events, the rooms can accommodate up to 45 guests. The minimum spend from Sunday to Thursday is £1,200 per room, Friday and Saturday is £1,500 per room.

Amazing food and service. Peking duck was amazing as were the starters and desserts. Great ambience too!

As ALWAYS, excellent in terms of food and service offering! All the staff are polite and will go the extra mile to make your experience a positive one. Special mention to Uday, Anderson and Samantha for their exceptional hospitality.

We had a very good experience in Gouqi concerning food and service. All plates were very good and in particular we retain dim sum (excellent quality of dough and products inside) and also wonton noodle consommé (very flavoury) and Hunan Seabass dish. Service was very careful and professional (thanks to Uday and to her colleague sommelier). Ambience was a bit absent as the place is nicely decorated but the restaurant quite empty and except a customer very noisy, spending his all dinner on the phone, we hadn't any distraction in particular. Despite its qualities, this restaurant has clearly a big negative point : its prices. We had a bill around 760£ (more than 900€) for 3 what is extremely high for this level of food and restaurant. Indeed we appreciated our dinner but we hadn't food and level of the place similar as in a Michelin starred restaurant. For this price, in France, we could eat in a 2-3 Michelin starred restaurant. Unfortunately, this is very disappointing as we had a good time till the bill. Maybe we hadn't anticipated it, in particular the 15% service not included in the menu's prices but anyway it doesn't represent the value of such an experience. For this reason, we won't come back or maybe we will go for the cheapest option in the place.

Fabulous food and drink. The Signature Peking Duck was delicious. Great service. Will definitely be returning.

This is an upmarket Chinese restaurant. At lunch it offers real Cantonese Dim Sum but it is over-enhanced by colouring the dumplings too vividly. However, they taste good. It is expensive for what is offered. Service is good. Two pm is not a good time to take lunch as there were only two tables taken, one was mine. No lotus paste buns, sadly!

Not quite the experience we were hoping for . To prices for mediocre food and service . Legendary peking duck was underwhelming. Just needs to up their game to make it legendary.

My friend and I chose the Theatre menu which included a cocktail. The food was excellent as was the cocktail. The service was superb, both helpful and friendly.

The restaurant were very accommodating, following a lengthy delay we faced when getting into London. Great service, with the dim sum a particular highlight.

This is not fine dining it’s infact very average Chinese food at best at astounding prices! £18 for egg fried rice and £27 for some mediocre stir fry vegetables. The staff were ill trained and the bright lighting and shiny floor made for little to no atmosphere.

Had an absolute fantastic lunch on Saturday, made so much better with the friendly, knowledgeable staff, in particular Olina, who expertly guided us through the menu. Outstanding Dim Sum, spectacular seafood all beautifully presented. The wine list is extensive and interesting, the sommelier expertly recommended some new wines to us, perfectly paired with our food choices. It was lunchtime, so restaurant was quiet, will definitely return again hopefully when it’s busier. That being said, it didn’t distract from the most memorable, pleasurable food experiences we’ve enjoyed. Can’t wait for the next opportunity to revisit
