Goldies’ menu focuses on the use of a wood-fired grill, with a selection of small and large plates connected by rich, smoky flavours. Highlights include a Merguez Scotch Egg with harissa mayonnaise, Marinated Baby Chicken with smoked yoghurt, and Grilled Wild Mushrooms, Baby Leek, and a confit egg yolk. In a nod to the founders’ French roots, variations of the iconic Frites are the signature of the restaurant, which are hand-cut and twice-cooked, in either beef dripping or vegetable oil.

The design of the space is centred on the expertise of wood-fired cooking, with kitchen counter seating to create a dramatic dining experience for guests. The interiors are cosy, with contemporary decoration, terracotta warm tones and a groovy musical atmosphere. Goldies features a noteworthy terrace that fits 30 guests.

Service was excellent, very attentive, waitress, great buzz in and around the restaurant. Food was delicious, had the burger with 3 x dips and beef dripping cooked chips, very tasty. Would recommend a visit.

We went here based on a recommendation in the Observer. The overall experience was poor - our BBQ corn portion was miserable and very expensive for what it was. The BBQ chicken had no flavour. The Plaice portion was minuscule for the £15 price. There are much better options to eat nearby

Goldies is a great, fun restaurant. But it’s much more than that. The food is cooked to a very high standard. Favourite dishes were the corn, lamb skewers, chicken and delica pumpkin. And the profiterole dessert is to die for. We had an excellent bottle Fleurie, which was keenly priced. The waiting staff were knowledgeable and correctly advised us on portion sizes. The big open fire kitchen looked so busy but every dish was spot on. We will definitely return soon.

A kind of upmarket, good quality, fast food restaurant. Fastish. Excellent fries, unorthodox burgers, crispy pork milanese, nice tangy salad dressing. Can't fault it, apart from the music/noise level, which is too high for these two sexagenerians, anyway. Otherwise, tasty, not fancy, good value.
