Service and comrade of staff is on the mark. While not strictly traditional Sushi, they put a twist on it, the ingredients are quality and flavorful.

Ordered the miso soup and miso cod. Both were pretty salty, especially the miso soup. The cod was cooked well. Majority of the restaurant seems like bar seating. Made a reservation about a month in advance and were seated right by the entrance which faced a large flower pot and very little atmosphere. You go to a place like this for the food and atmosphere. Our seating placement definitely lacked the atmosphere part. We had an 8pm reservation, so maybe getting an earlier reservation will get you better seating where you can actually see the chefs preparing the food and see the bar better. A couple walked-in without a reservation and got better seating that we did, so they do have walk-in availability which is nice.

I loved the meal and the general vibes of the restaurant - it is a beautiful space not unlike those that I found in Japan. That said, there's nothing particularly creative on the menu - just standards that are delicious. The service was friendly but was a bit lacking for such a spot- for instance, we had our first plate before we even received water, and spent an extended period of time waiting after finishing our meal before being checked in on again for dessert/checks.

We had an amazing experience at Golden Gai. It’s the perfect blend of upscale and casual and great for a date night. Everything we ate was delicious - we had the spicy scallop roll, the ginger salad, spicy cucumbers, fried rice with pork belly and the miso cod. The miso cod was AMAZING. Overall, the food was great and reasonably priced for what you get!

I was really excited to try Golden Gai but unfortunately the hype didn’t meet reality. The sushi was pretty good. Edamame was oversalted and the fried chicken was the saltiest thing I’ve eaten in awhile. I ate it because I was starving but almost said something about it because it was over the top salty. Service was…in a word, awkward. Some of the issues were likely due to it being a newer place and people just having to get in to a rhythm but others aspects weren’t. It wasn’t great, it wasn’t horrible, but we won’t go back.

Review: I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious – every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. The ambience was equally impressive, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal. It had a warm, inviting vibe that made the entire dining experience so enjoyable. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic meal in a great environment!

Excellent food, brilliant cocktails, and very cool vibe. You can tell the service team are close and having fun - and the kitchen is extremely creative. It all comes together very well. The music is very loud, but I liked that.

The music is great but a bit too loud. Fun though.! Counter service needs to be refined. Bit awkward to turn and order behind you - though servers and staff are great and attentive!!! Best Gyoza! Get the Christophe Mittnacht Gyoto back! Best Alsatian wine for sushi!!!
