The Longest Standing Restaurant In Greektown, Detroit

Brothers Niko and Vasili Dionysopoulos came to America in the late 60’s. They started by selling produce to the Greek churches and then to the businesses in Greektown. They opened Apollo Market on Harper Ave in 1968 till 1970. Then they purchased the Golden Fleece on April 7th 1970. They worked ’till the late 2000’s. Their sons Spero and Yanni took over the family business and remodeled the building and concept after 50 years to continue to give Metro Detroit the authentic Greek experience and hospitality. Now they’re reopening the staple grocery and bakery next door bring the latest and finest Greek imports.

The Dionysopoulos family would like to thank all of you for these amazing 50 years and looking forward to the next 50!

Really fun Greek town experience! Great pleasant service and cocktails. All the food we had was good and well prepared as expected. Try the flaming cheese! This is a Greek Town Got-To!

I understand it was really busy. Not servers fault but food was subpar Saw a manager grab glasses with his fingers in the dirty glass and then serving food immediately after. Hope your not spreading Hep C.

Nice location, cool ambience, friendly servers, saganaki appetizer is cool flair and tastes good. My entree was very disappointing - the chicken souvlaki pita sandwich was absolutely drenched in tzatziki, like a ridiculous amount. Most of it ended up on my face, so I gave up on it. Overall, not bad, but stick with the knife and fork entrees or ask for easy tzatziki.

We never got to sit down. We arrived at are scheduled time and was turned away. What a shame

Went with another couple and had a great experience. Food, Service, and Drinks were great. Hadn’t been to Golden Fleece since the pandemic but the interior was updated and very nice. Our group had a 3 spread sampler, chicken lemonado, and a couple kabobs. All were great. The Semeli wine was good along with the after dinner Greek fireballesque shots. Great overall experience and we’ll definitely be back.
