Glass House is a fresh new seaside restaurant / café that aims to regenerate the pavilion building and surrounding Redoubt Gardens. Returning it into a destination for community and visitors to eat, meet, relax and celebrate.
It is dedicated to bolstering both Eastbourne’s community and heritage, showcasing local produce and culture whilst allowing residents and visitors to enjoy the spectacular views of our beautiful seafront.

    Disappointed that on arrival for lunch with two friends, problem with cookers so only breakfasts being served. As I am not on social media all the time, information not picked up until I came home. We left and went to another restaurant right on the seafront with first class service and great prices and good all round choices. Since opening The Glasshouse has had a very poor remarks in all areas. Although a new venture, I feel that most teething problems should have been resolved by now. Actual position of venue is very good but on its own is not enough to make it popular. Looking at the menu, prices are too high and choices could be extended to more popular choices for most ordinary customers. Special lunch deals may help business. It will be interesting to see how it evolves. It will not be on my list to return unless some things change. A venue has to support the locals as a return venue, as well as tourists who just attend once. Kind regards Rosemary Davis

    Nice looking restaurant great for the birthday occasion we booked.Regretfully service was too slow, we could understand if they were really busy or short staff ( plenty of empty tables and young staff). Staff were pleasant enough but need more training. Repeated the order various times and nothing complicated was ordered. When mains arrived, no finger bowls no plates no utensils to cut the lobster. 2 mains arrived later, not sure why? In our opinion the Padrón peppers were not cooked enough ( Galician's in the group). Suggest more than 1 vegetarian option as main. Previous to coming I nearly cancelled the reservation as work colleagues who visited had similar issues re slow service and staff. Maybe with time these issues will be resolved but I am not sure anyone in our group will be persuaded to come again and the birthday occasion was spoilt especially as it was their main the arrived later. Sorry for this negative review so wanted it to work out, Eastbourne council please take note.

    Sadly our experience that is of five ladies out on a birthday 🎂 lunch was truly awful 😢 due to some gas issue there was very little that could be had from the menu. As it is the lunch time menu was very limited indeed.. we were not expecting to eat wraps or sandwiches for a birthday celebration lunch we wanted substantial main courses. Lady manager was to say the least very unhelpful only one of her staff was lovely and kept apologising. No offer of a drink or anything as a way to say sorry etc. We all know that the gas issue was unfortunate but how we were treated was sadly not very good and did not make us think that the Glass House was worthy of a second chance. We sadly had no choice but to leave and go to a competitor, we were all very sad as we had truly been looking forward to enjoying a super celebration lunch at what is now supposed to be the new and fab restaurant in Eastbourne that everyone was excited about. We 5 ladies are quite sad with the experience we had but all of us hope that things will get better.. we will keep an eye out for the reviews.

    We had a brunch booking arriving at 9.30. Went to order a vegan breakfast and avo smash to be told the kitchen still prepping and couldn’t offer avocado. I find this wild that prep wasn’t done ahead of service and simply cutting open an avocado and mashing it wasn’t possible. Therefore one member of the party then cancelled eating as wanted the avo smash and as a vegan not loads of other options so didn’t eat, and then the vegan breakfast came with avocado. We also asked for a an Americano but with lesser water so stronger but told it comes out of a machine (no barista) so couldn’t be done. The servers looked tired and miserable which was really sad impact as we were excited to eat here as looked great but fell short of expectations. Not sure if it’s teething problems but won’t be rushing back and if we do will come back in a few months time and maybe try lunch or dinner service instead. Very disappointing.

    The food was very good, had the oysters, tried all three types and were all very good as was the rest of the food, lovely setting, but the service was very slow, we were sat by the kitchen, the food was constantly coming out so don’t think they were slow but just not sure whether the kitchen is big enough/stafffed enough for the number of covers when the restaurant is full

    I was keen to try Glasshouse for my birthday last week, so we booked a table for lunch. Unfortunately we had the same negative experience that many others have been complaining about, and we left very disappointed. Trying to catch a waitress's attention to just order the food took over 35 mins, and more than 1.5hrs to actually be served a very simply lunch! We were charged £68 for a bottle of wine, when I only ordered 1 glass, which we only noticed upon reviewing the receipt at home. The staff were very aware of the recent complaints over service time and did go some way to try and compensate for this, however the management need to make immediate changes to their menu, capacity and staffing levels in the kitchen so they can handle the number of diners without the significant level of complaints they are currently receiving. The food was pretty average once it finally arrived; some hot, some cold, nothing overly exciting. We were really disappointed in this lunch, particularly as it was for a special occasion. There are clearly teething issues with it being a new restaurant but the management aren't doing enough to fix these, and it's starting to impact the reputation already!

    It was an all pleasant experience from the friendly welcome to the service and „extra mile“ gone by staff. Food was delicious and decently priced. Looking forward to return to try more from the menu.

    We wanted to try out this new venue which is close to home and could be handy for when we have visitors or just for a casual drop in. We had brunch, Eggs Benedict with smashed avocado and it was delicious. The tea was also top quality and the service was great. It was a very rainy day so we sat inside but we look forward to sitting on the deck with the lovely view!
