Since 1976 Giovanni's continues to serve Cleveland outstanding Italian cuisine & a unique dining experience.                                                                                                 The best lunch we’ve had in years, perfecto! The salads were phenomenally constructed to a thing of beauty. Halibut special was simply a gourmet plate to enjoy Slowly. Thank you for the great food as always and our server Michael was excellent as well!

                                                                                                Worst experience we have ever had at Giovannis. Took over two hours to be served dinner. The manager walked around several times and never approached us to explain. He would send the waiter over with the explanation. Seen this before at this restaurant. The manager lets the wait staff take the blame. I saw two tables leave without ever receiving their entrees. Not what it used to be.

                                                                                                We went to dinner for my wife's birthday. The restaurant was unusually not very busy, especially on a Friday night. It may be that they lost a bit of their special "recipe" we are accustomed to. The server, Al, was very nice. The service was a bit slow with a few missteps here and there. Two examples: 1) we got bread but no butter or olive oil and 2) the wine we ordered (from their digital iPad, which should be simple to keep updated) was the wrong year. The food itself was good but not great. Staters: My wife had the calamari steak and I had the special Waygu carpaccio. The calamari itself was good but it was served in a very savory broth. Typically when we have calamari, it comes with a lighter, more lemony sauce - just my personal preference, however, the sauce overpowered the calamari in this case. My carpaccio was nice - served with micro greens, capers, and aioli. It was good overall but the ratio of beef to greens was off - not enough beef for the amount of greens. Entree: My wife had the special eggplant parmesan and I had the special Alaskan cod. My wife's salad was nice. The eggplant was soaked in the sauce & huge amount of cheese (too much cheese is a common Ohio mistake). My cod was nicely cooked and a good portion. The sauce that came with the cod seemed to be a lighter version of the sauce that came with the calamari. Again, more acid (lemon) would have been welcome. Wine: Okay, I'm being nitpicky here, but when I order wine from a restaurant I expect a nice glass (at home we are Riedel fans). The glasses were medium-grade molded wine glasses with a rolled lip - a no-no according to Riedel. The glasses are what I would expect from a hole-in-the-wall Italian joint, not a fine dining establishment. We love the people at Giovanni's but it may be a while until we go back.

                                                                                                My husband and I chose to celebrate our Anniversary at Giovanni’s. What a big disappointment. The restaurant was very loud. Nice place for business dinner but not for a romantic evening. My glass of wine was average. Only one to choose from. My husband’s pasta was way over cooked. I had the scallops. They were cooked well but, there were big chunks of cauliflower and whole pistachio nuts. The dish lacked cohesiveness. Salad drowning in dressing. Cup of lobster bisque not good. The service was awful. It was our server’s first day. Obviously very inexperienced. Constant apologizing and one mishap after another. Dinner took a very long time to come out. Kept offering bread. Brought wrong desert. I blame the management. Perhaps the server should have started her training during the lunch hour. At the end of the meal the server was apologetic, blamed the chef for the poor experience and asked if we would be coming back. I informed that we would not. I have dined in many fine restaurants and am disappointed that I picked this one to celebrate my Anniversary.

Was not stated on website. arrived at 4:45. offered bar seating which was very noisy. Accommodated us by seating us in flowered patio. Since we did not like original seating, server and mater d very attentive. Steak Tartare, scallops, halibut and brownie sundae. Excellent. Have been dining here for years.
