Giovanna is the second restaurant created by Chef and Owner Richard Cranmer. Sister restaurant Zinicola, located in Ballantyne, has been a success in bringing authentic Italian food to the area, and Chef Richard hopes to bring that to the Lower Southend (LoSo) area. Giovanna is inspired by Chef Richard’s family, especially his mother and Nonna. He brings authentic Italian cuisine to life with a modern twist on classic recipes. We specialize in house made Italian cuisine from pastas, pizzas, and desserts! Our goal here at Giovanna is to provide delicious food and excellent service to our guests!

I had an exceptional dining experience at this Italian restaurant in Charlotte. Isabella, our waiter, was outstanding, providing attentive and friendly service throughout our meal. The pasta was absolutely exquisite—truly among the best I’ve had, and I’ve been to many Italian restaurants in the area. The manager’s traditional Italian attire added a charming touch to the ambiance, giving the restaurant a unique character that immediately suggested excellence. From the food to the drinks and the service, everything was superb. The only minor note is to be cautious with the salt levels in the dishes, but even with this small critique, the flavors and sauces were incredible. This restaurant stands out as a gem in Charlotte's dining scene, and it’s rare to find such a memorable experience. Highly recommended!

This was my second time here and it was just as amazing - if not better! Service is top notch, food is fantastic, drinks are amazing. Highly recommend

Fantastic new restaurant! We were passing through Charlotte and searched for a highly rated Italian restaurant, and Giovanna did not disappoint! The pasta is made fresh in house, we also ordered the Branzino, which was fantastic! Great wine list as well. Service was wonderful and we ended the meal with a delicious latte to wake us up for the remainder of our trip. Thank you for a wonderful experience all the way around!

A must go! The food was authentic and the staff was on point. The GM (Carmen) checked in with us a few times and was delightful. Great experience overall. 👍🏼👍🏼
