    Anchovy toast and Arancini starters were excellent and the pistachio gelato was delicious. Great setting in very nice dining room, which sometimes is a little loud but overall great experience.

    I recently returned home from a trip to Tuscany and was looking to find a local restaurant that would make me feel like I was back in Italy again. Gioia hit the mark! The drinks, food and service was Molto bene and the gelato was as good, if not better than the gelato I had in Italy ! I am looking forward to my next visit and will hopefully be able to dine on the rooftop! So glad we have this little slice of heaven right around the corner in New Haven!

    Fun place to have a drink and meal. Main dishes came out warm, but the tastes were very nice. Friendly staff.

    While the food was very good, the server was average at best. The noise level was very loud making it difficult to have a conversation. I also found the menu a bit limiting and was surprised that their Worcester Squares were sold out at 7:30 even though there was a rack of them at the gelato take out counter.

    The food was excellent and the staff too! My only complaint is that when we checked in for a 7:00 reservation, our table was ready but we were told that we had to be done by 8:30 for the next reservation. It wasn’t a good way to start the night considering we were waiting 10 minutes to check in because someone was complaining that they were late due to parking issues and lost their reservation. .

    My husband and I have been 3 or 4 times now for dinner. It’s an understatement to say that we are big fans of Gioa. It’s one of the best additions to the neighborhood. I’m a big fan of the open kitchen concept and the friendly and knowledgeable staff. I can’t wait to visit the rooftop!

    I was shocked that they were out of Wooster squares! Waitress said they didn’t have the dough - very strange
