We open for dinner, nightly beginning at 5pm, for delicious dishes created by our own, Chef Cristiano Bassani.

White the staff was very pleasant and accommodating for Valentine’s Day i was a bit disappointed. There was a set vday multi course dinner menu and when we got there for our reservation they were out of all the best options, no salmon, no steak, out of the best desserts etc. it was also my wedding night so overall it was just a let down. As stated the staff was really sweet & pleasant and offered us drinks to accommodate, i just feel like if you were going to have a set menu you should have enough to feed the people who reserve. Not being a vegan or vegetarian and that being most of the only options left was disappointing especially for a $150 person price.

8:30 reservation, not sat until 9:15. Pre-set Valentine’s Day menu and they somehow were out of 1 of the 3 entrees (steak nonetheless) and 1 of the 2 desserts. Didn’t even tell us the dessert dish was no long available, just brought us a random dessert we didn’t ask for. To add on top, the waiter seemed like he was in a rush to turnover our table. Brought over our check immediately when our entrees were taken, before we even got our dessert from a pre-set 3 course meal (which again, they somehow ran out of). Not sure how you offer pre-set menu reservations and then run out of the foods when there are only 3 options. Overall, what was supposed to be a nice and expensive Valentine’s Day dinner turned into just an expensive experience that wasn’t great. Really disappointed and don’t recommend

Drinks and desserts were pretty good. Main course and apps were decent. Thought it was pricey for what they provided for v day specials. The service was great though.

My friend and I went there for restaurant week. The calamari was decent, meatballs were ok, but the fish was bland and could have benefited from maybe a creamy sauce or something to bring out the flavor. I’m thinking maybe if we ordered from the main menu they probably have better tasting options but during restaurant week you would want to put your signature dishes to bring back business. The waiter was great though and the support staff was very attentive.

You went back to Gioia for the 2nd time in a week. Aside from that we live a few blocks away, we really enjoyed the food and the service last Friday so we went back this Friday. Everything was really good! We got rigatoni in vodka sauce with sausage and peas! OMG! That might be my new favorite pasta in Chicago! My husband got the spaghetti nero with lobster and I kept going for his plate and felt torn between which pasta as I started to get full! I also want to highlight that the calamari was super good! Then the panna cotta and tiramisu...wow. Yeah, we are going to be regulars! I also love the ambience and the low-key elegance and amazing service... I think when we went a couple of years ago after they first open, there were still some kinks being worked out. Frankly, with new restaurants opening up constantly in the West Loop, we didn't go back for a while. Then I had a big work team dinner there a few months ago and thought it was pretty good. We finally got around to going back on our own last weekend and the rest is history:-) I personally liked it better than Cacio e Pepe, RPM or Alla Vita. I still like Monteverde but its a toss as Monteverde has a very different approach/ style and taste that makes them a bit unique.
