I’m so excited to announce the second restaurant in partnership with hotel giant Melia, is Gino D’Acampo Quayside.

It’s a beautiful light, open plan restaurant with floor to ceiling windows that lets the natural light flood it – it’s a real mood booster. That’s not all, we also have a huge contemporary terrace overlooking the iconic River Tyne, I can’t wait for you to see it.

Serving real Italian food as it should be, the menu really does have something for everyone. Check out my new lounge bar as well, it serves one of the biggest selections of Prosecco, sparkling wine and Franciacorta in the UK, with over 30 varieties for you to choose from. Pop by for a drink after work or enjoy one or two while you dine, the choice is yours.

Having dined at numerous establishments across Newcastle over the years, this was, without question, one of the most disappointing. While I've found that many non-Michelin-star restaurants owned by celebrity chefs tend to fall short, I had yet to experience a Gino restaurant—until now, and it will certainly be the last. The food was uninspired, reminiscent of an overpriced school dinner. The cacophony in the dining room was unbearable, to the point where conversation across the table was nearly impossible. Every member of our party found the food lackluster, with the sole exception of the pizza, which garnered mild praise. Despite voicing our dissatisfaction, we were offered a complimentary dessert, though by that point, I was far too eager to leave. The real icing on the cake? We waited over an hour for our meals, long enough to finish a full bottle of wine before any food arrived. In short, this was an overpriced, subpar experience, and I will not be returning to a Gino restaurant.
