Gekkō is a japanese-inspired steakhouse and lounge from the minds of groot hospitality’s david grutman and the recording artist bad bunny.

Located in miami’s thriving brickell neighborhood, gekkō immerses patrons in a fusion of elevated steakhouse surroundings with the modernity–and precision–of japanese cuisine. Signature dishes include premium steak cuts, jaw-dropping sushi inventions, and delicious seafood appetizers. A bespoke cocktail program, an extensive wine list and bottle service offerings complement the menu.

Gekkō’s aesthetic is lush, luxe and jewel-toned. With design accents like custom wallpaper, dark and rich palettes and hints of soft golden light, the restaurant transports visitors to an intimate, rare nocturnal world. As it happens, the word “Gekkō” itself translates from Japanese to English as “moonlight.”

It was an overall good experience. We waited 45’ after our reservation time at the « lobby » where there is a bar before being seated. We waited standing up that whole time, it was very crowded but music was good and we were not in a rush. This is not always a fun waiting time but we were on vacation so didn’t really mind. We didn’t try the sushi this time but instead ordered some mains. We ordered the Crispy Snapper and the NY Strip. - Crispy Snapper : I feel like it could have been better stated on the menu that that dish was actually just « deep fried FISH nuggets ». Kind of deceived and surprised at the final product. The fish inside the « nugget or fritter» was great tasting but I couldn’t eat a whole plate of that, I got palet fatigue. - NY Strip : It was a good steak and the asparagus was excellent. The final check did not feel like it was worth the price but, the ambiance of the restaurant is very nice.

Derek was amazing taking care of us explain the menu and catering to our every need. Food was okay I expected it to be better. But the drinks were great!

Loved the food and service. Beautiful venue. But the tables are set so close together and with the music so loud, you can hear everyone’s conversation. Not a date night situation unless you do t want to talk.

Really enjoyed our experience at gecko. The food was very good. Everything we tried was amazing actually.

Beautiful restaurant. Great ambiance with a fun vibe. Food was good, but a little pricey. Server was very good and knowledgeable. Accommodated a person in our party with a gluten allergy.

5 out of 5 stars! THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT!!! THE AMBIENCE IS PHENOMENAL. I WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK. Highly recommend it. It’s a vibe. Dress up and have fun!
