No frills breakfast. Cheap sliced supermarket bread does not cut it for toast which arrived first. Coffee and porridge that arrived after were fine .

The dinner was included with staying at the hotel and was therefore a set menu with absolutely no frills. Being a vegetarian this meant no choice and was way below standard. My starter of humous was uninspiring just one taste, boring. The main course of gnocchi with chilli tomato sauce was absolutely dreadful , the chef must have dropped the salt pot in it , a congealed pile of stodgy overcooked gnocchi with a thin sauce with the chilli killing any other flavours squashed into a small bowl. My friend who is not vegetarian chose fish soup that was bland and fish that was totally dry. We did not risk a desert and ended up eating our own sandwiches in the room. The wine list is expensive with bottles starting at £40 which given the level of the food one is not tempted to fork out for. The service and presentation were charmless. Only the decor was good with the dining room full of really lovely urns with plants .

Beautiful building. Service was a little slow due to only having 3 members of staff covering both the restaurant and bar.

Food choices poor, especially if vegetarian. These options aren’t even given on the dinner menu, we had to ask!!! After the first evening only being given one choice of vegetarian option, we decided on the second day at around 16.30, to ask for a copy of the evening menu, in case, as we suspected the vegetarian option was the same. At this time there was no menu available. So we simply waited until our dinner slot, only to find out that we were in fact correct and it was the same option. Having already decided we didn’t want to eat the same meal, two nights in a row, we left! Ridiculous surcharge of £99 for “second breakfast.” If one does not feel full enough. A lot of the food wasn’t made fresh. Worst of all, was the cheap ready sliced bread served with meals. Not at all what was expected at the price paid and the name/brand of the establishment.
