Gaijin Sushi is the creation of chef/director, Michal Kubiak.

Having opened in March 2018, and receiving excellent reviews, including the Guardian in our first month, we are proud to offer a unique experience. You can sit around our sushi bar, which sits 10 and watch our chefs creating the sushi right before your eyes! Or if you would like to enjoy with friends we have two tables that can seat up to 6 people.

Please feel free to ask questions, such are "Where is the fish from?" we love answering them!

We did the Omakase which was so personal and beautiful to watch as the sushi chef creates each piece in front of you and then serves it directly to you. Fantastic!

The Omakase 10-course menu at only £35 plus a 10% service charge offers great value for money. While the ingredients aren't the most premium, they are undeniably fresh. The elegant and comfortable setting enhances the overall experience of watching the chef's skillful preparation. However, the sushi rice was a bit too moist, and the hand-pressing technique could use some improvement. There's definitely room for refinement. Nonetheless, if I have the chance to visit Birmingham again, I will definitely return.

Beautifully crafted sushi made in front of you. Me and my friend loved the counter top service and the choices of sushi with brilliant friendly service. We will be back!

Such a wonderful dining experience at Gaijin Sushi from the moment walking through the unassuming door to exiting back out. It had great ambience and does clean, fresh sushi so well! We'll definitely return to try out more of the options but encourage any sushi fan to book in for the 'omakase' experience.

Absolutely incredible from start to finish, we did the omakase and every course was sensational. Great sitting up at the counter and watching the guys at work, can’t wait to go back again!

Food was very good. If compared to a sushi ya in Japan, then one could nit pick at attention to detail, but you’d be comparing to the best in the world. The quality of the sushi is top notch though….ans I’ve been to Japan a few times !. It’s that good….the seared scallops literally are to die for. Personally, I’d pay more for more courses in the omakase menu. Easily in the top 3 in West Midlands. If they paid a little more attention to detail, they could easily be looking at 1* Michelin based on the quality of the food alone

Fantastic Omakase experience - relaxed, very friendly, superb food - the tuna is superb. Luxury treats with truffle and caviar. Great sake to go with it. 10/10 experience
