Gaijin Sushi is the creation of chef/director, Michal Kubiak.

Having opened in March 2018, and receiving excellent reviews, including the Guardian in our first month, we are proud to offer a unique experience. You can sit around our sushi bar, which sits 10 and watch our chefs creating the sushi right before your eyes! Or if you would like to enjoy with friends we have two tables that can seat up to 6 people.

Please feel free to ask questions, such are "Where is the fish from?" we love answering them!

Absolutely unbelievable sushi. We sat at the chefs table and watched it being prepared-a lovely touch. The chef was able to explain each course of the Omakase, 10 in total. Each piece of sushi was crafted with a delicate balance of flavours. The depth was fantastic with some pieces having layer after layer of flavour. Truly wonderful food! We thought we would not be full but 10 courses was enough. We paired with Japanese beer and Sake..Support a great and amazing value restaurant, and do not miss out!

Amazing sushi. The owner was amazing. Without a doubt one of the best and most knowledgeable hosts I’ve seen in a long time with a real passion for the food. Food was outstanding and very high quality. Chefs just totally forgot one of the dishes we ordered but was addressed at the end and addressed with no fuss my the owner. Great atmosphere and great food.

What a gem. Atmosphere, calm and adult. Beautiful food. The name defining how , despite the exceptional Japanese food, it is all amazingly put together by a largely European and South Asian team. Such an incredible welcome. I loved it. Highly recommended, but don’t tell anyone so it doesn’t get too busy 😂

The best sushi in Birmingham and probably the UK Excellent fresh ingredients, really friendly and knowledgeable staff. We’ve been going to Gaijin for several years and have never been disappointed It was Easy to get a table, since apparently the summer tends to be a quiet season for them, but don’t be put off by this. Well worth a visit any day of the week

Excellent omakase experience with fantastic and attentive service. All the sushi dishes were well seasoned with a good variety, and the tea selection that they serve is good quality using whole leaves.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. We had the omakase at the bar with some extra pieces after, all the food was prepared in front of us and every mouthful was delicious! The team are so friendly and helpful here, it really is a great restaurant with excellent quality food.

Hidden gem in the wonderfully extraterrestrial melting pot of here and there, old and new, that ugly and beautiful city of Birmingham. Very welcoming staff, the chef is a CHEF. The food is absolutely exquisite. If you want sushi rice that's full of life and flavour and not some dead wad of white slush straight from the fridge, if you want nori that tastes like the vibrant toasted seaweed it actually is, instead of the dark green dull table mats you usually get in those generic 'Japanese' restaurants you find literally everywhere nowadays, if you want heavenly fresh and delicious fish, prepared in a unique way the chef concocted himself... Well, look no further, you found the place.. One little question, in Japanese 'gaijin' is not the most friendly word, meaning 'foreigner' in a somewhat derogatory way, more like 'barbarian'... Given that the staff is Polish, is that irony ? Just curious... Anyway : *****

Both Chef and Staffs provided excellent services. Food are great with high standard! I can’t believe I can have such a tasting experience in UK. I will surely come back in the coming future. Highly recommend!
