The Gables Restaurant is pleased to announce that we are now open!

The Gables Restaurant in Newgate Street Village is the social hub within the local community, we are conveniently located for Cuffley, Potters Bar, Hertford and Cheshunt offering fine dining with a range of Mediterranean cuisine.
Whether you’re celebrating with friends and family or planning a romantic dinner for two our relaxed atmosphere is sure to provide the perfect setting. We also offer seated and buffet style party functions in our cocktail bar area or for larger parties in our restaurant area.

We were a family of 5 celebrating my Father’s 88th birthday on Friday evening 27th September. I picked this venue from the reviews but not expecting much by way of ambiance from the photos. I thought it was a simple cafe type place. What a surprise on entering. It looked upmarket, the place was buzzing, several customers were well-dressed and there was live music. It was full and I think there were only 3 waiting at the tables. Those gentlemen became friends almost. They were professional, approachable and friendly. Calling them waiters would be demeaning because they hosted in the best sense of the word. As it was full, waiting for the food took a tad longer than perhaps otherwise but use that time to enjoy the atmosphere and perhaps to chat to other guests there. My father was serenaded the Happy Birthday song by guests and staff and presented a suitably “candled” desert. He was extremely happy as a youngish lady from the next table gave her congratulations, a hug and a peck on the cheek. This restaurant obviously attracts the better customer. I unfortunately did not get the names of the gentlemen hosts but they were all excellent as was the lady at the bar/ counter. Total cost for 5 including a bottle of champagne, liqueur, coffees (5 mains and 1 desert) totalled £350. Free Parking is convenient either at the pub opposite on one side or the cricket club grounds on the other. I fly out of town on Thursday for several months. This was my first visit to The Gables. It will not be my last. Highly recommended.

We have visited Gables many times, and the owner and his team have exceeded our expectations each time. The food is excellent, and the overall experience is 10/10. We will be back there again very soon!

Very lovely welcoming staff. Very (overly) generous food. Great menu. We took neighbours who had not been to The Gables before and they were very complimentary.
