Who ever said that to eat vegan and earth friendly food you need to renounce the delicacies of traditional Italian cuisine?
Our Chef Alessandra D'Angelo moved to Australia from Sicily in 2009 and she has been working incessantly on vegetarian and vegan recipes since then.

At Funghi e Tartufo, she have turned plant-based food into something so delicious that you won't desire anything else!

In a converted 19th century warehouse in the heart of Melbourne CBD, Funghi e Tartufo – meaning Mushrooms and Truffle in honour of their signature dish – will offer you a unique experience leaving you breathless.

The inspiration is traditional Italian and the vision is a modern and earth friendly way to marry deliciousness with plant based food.

What was (slightly) lacking in food (I’d have given it 5 stars if my carbonara wasn’t a bit of a letdown) and overall value, was more than made up by the excellent service we received. Staff were attentive, friendly and professional and service was fast. Special mention goes to our main waiter (whose name we didn’t get) who was particularly lovely. Overall, highly recommend for a nice night out with friends and good plant-based food.

I was looking forward to revisiting after a brief lunch a month ago. Dinner did not disappoint. Doris is a wonderful host & recommended the Sicilian Meatloaf which was divine! 5 star! Forget about it being vegan the meal was just a perfect combination of flavours & textures 10/10z The pickled options were soft & delicate & the flavours of the meal just so beautifully balanced & so delicious! Unbelievable & it lingered with me for hours afterwards. A truly unforgettable experience with a Prosecco & lovely Sicilian wine to make it the perfect meal. Thank you!!! It’s not often I ever see or eat meals of this quality.

We loved the service, the waiters were very attentive, and the food was exquisite. It’s the best plant-based restaurant we’ve been to. We speak Spanish, and the waiter who served us spoke a little Spanish, so it was a unique, magical, and exquisite experience. Of course, we will be back.

Got a great table by bar. Food was excellent. Not well advertised that dishes labeled with meat were actually plant based. But still great food!

Lovely setting, friendly wait staff, and amazing plant-based Italian food. So nice to be able to look through a menu without having to try and alter the dish to achieve a plant-based diet. Will be back to try more on the menu.

We really enjoyed our dinner tonight. My sister is vegan, so this restaurant was her choice. My partner and I really enjoyed the food too though. I had the pumpkin ravioli, which was lovely. My partner had the pappardelle pasta with mushroom and I think that was better than mine…lol. Our waiter was wonderful too. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was incredible, i haven't been able to enjoy creamy pasta or cheesy dishes for years due to severe lactose intolerance so this was an extra special treat for me. Highly reccomend and will be going back!

Always a great time here. Every time I bring non vegan friends they love it as well and we all leave very satisfied and full!

The food was fantastic, highly recommend the funghi e tartufo pappardelle! The tiramisu was also fantastic. Only downside is the price of the mocktails! $20 was too much so just had water!
