Who ever said that to eat vegan and earth friendly food you need to renounce the delicacies of traditional Italian cuisine?
Our Chef Alessandra D'Angelo moved to Australia from Sicily in 2009 and she has been working incessantly on vegetarian and vegan recipes since then.

At Funghi e Tartufo, she have turned plant-based food into something so delicious that you won't desire anything else!

In a converted 19th century warehouse in the heart of Melbourne CBD, Funghi e Tartufo – meaning Mushrooms and Truffle in honour of their signature dish – will offer you a unique experience leaving you breathless.

The inspiration is traditional Italian and the vision is a modern and earth friendly way to marry deliciousness with plant based food.

Perfect anniversary dinner. We inhaled the Calamari Fritti and Bruscetta as soon as it hit the table. The pappardelle with truffle and mushroom sauce was my favourite and the Pumpkin Ravioli was also tasty - Homemade pumpkin ravioli with butter and sage sauce. Dessert looked great. There was a tiramisu that we shared but really we should have had one each! Service was impeccable, atmosphere was buzzing and the drinks menu was extensive. Particular favourite was the Whisky sour with aquafaba foam. Delizioso!

Excellent food, incredible service. So happy that the quality of this restaurant has remained impeccable if not gotten even better post COVID times. The food is better than I remembered with generous servings and a menu that has so many brilliant options. Not your usual generic Italian food, each dish we devoured was perfectly seasoned and made with love. Cannot wait to come back again

I’m not vegan but I had no idea it was vegan the food is outstanding and will go visit again ..

We dined outside on the characteristic street where the restaurant is situated. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the service was very prompt. The cuisine was truly outstanding! I highly recommend the pappardelle funghi e tartufo; it's absolutely fantastic!

We were looking forward to a good vegan experience. What disappointed us was the excess amount of rocket which overpowered most of the dishes. We ordered a side dish of beans with potatoes and the main ingredient was rocket with just 5 beans and just a few slices of potatoes. The other dish was zucchini and eggplant dish but again it laid on a very large bed of rocket. I do like rocket but this was a bit of an overkill. We all had the calamari dish, again served with rocket, was very good. We also had the pumpkin ravioli which lacked flavour. The desert was a chocolate cheesecake which was very good. Compliments to the staff, who were very friendly and attentive.

Even if you don't eat plant based meals you need to give Funghi E Tartufo, you won't be disappointed. Not only great food but great service.

Great plant based menu. Best vegan Italian food I’ve had in Melbourne. A bit on the pricey side but that’s to be expected for hardware lane. There was a mixup with our entree so they gave us two for free. Amazing service

Very (very) good vegan food with many choices. We have several favourites but if we try others they are also very good. We did see that the wine list (which used to be extensive and axcellent) has slimmed down to a single page, one side wines by the glass the other side bottles. This is disappointing and the bottle prices are really quite expensive now. Also while my prosecco "wine by the glass" was very generous, my glass of chianti was very stingy for $16.50 and possibly only two thirds or a half of what is a normal "glass". This aspect (the skinny wine list, pricing and quantity) was disappointing whereas everything else was fine. Still a nice friendly place with great food and nice ambience, solid four stars but more effort on the wine side and maybe some sharper pricing across the board is needed.
