Frida Midtown is a Mexican-Peruvian fusion restaurant located in Midtown East, New York. It offers a creative menu, complementing fresh ingredients with flavors from around the world. Some of the dishes you can find there are Birria Tacos, Causa Rellena, Peruvian ceviche, and Drunken Mussels.

We feature live Latin music every Sunday night from 6-9pm. Happy Hour Daily from 4PM-6PM and Live Show & DJ every Friday night after 8:30PM!

We have gone to Frieda Midtown three years in a row as we visit New York for the holidays every year. It' been a moderately good experience. This year, the Maitre d' was excellent although he seemed quite flustered but attentive as people arrived at the same time. We were seated as requested in the quiet rear of the restaurant. They did not have "frozen" Margaritas (Mexican Restaurant ? ) so we opted for Pina Colada's instead. Weak drinks. No liquor. No typical tropical flavor, very small, and in an inappropriate glass. As we were trying to have a quiet conversation it begins to be overpowered by a constant BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, rhythm with no music. The glasses on the table begin to rattle. Sounds as if the neighbors are having a party. As the Maitre d' passes by I ask where the booming is coming from and he says with a big smile, From the speakers! I ask, is there no music accompaniment? He smiles and walks away. We chose to have the cheese enchiladas as the main course. GREEN OR MOLE SAUCE TOPPED WITH MEXICAN CREAM, QUESO FRESCO, AVOCADO & PICKLED ONIONS. CHOICE OF CHICKEN, CHEESE OR MUSHROOMS. Now I know there are various Mole sauces and "Can" contain chocolate and applied to an appropriate food, usually dessert. But WHO would ever think that someone would put chocolate Mole sauce on cheese enchiladas ? TERRIBLE ! Rather than making a scene we simply scraped off the chocolate. Ate what we could of the enchiladas, finished our weak beverage. Got 3 scoops of ice cream to cleanse the awful taste of chocolate and cheese from our mouths and left. We tipped the waiter appropriately. (Not his fault. He did a good job) Oh and when we went to pick up our coats, my wife was offered three different ones before hers was located on the floor. Not a good drink, not a good meal, not a good night, not a good memory. We won't be back.

Dear Eugene, Thank you for your review. If you have visited us three years in a row, you should know that we have NEVER offered frozen margaritas. We are not just Mexican; we are Mexican Peruvian inspired (something you should also know if you've visited before). Lastly, Mole Poblano is considered the “national dish of Mexico" and since you seem to be an expert in Mexican cuisine you should also know that these are widely eaten with cheese. We are sorry about your wife's coat; we will address this with the team.

The food and atmosphere at Frida is second to done. The host and bartender service is also some of the best in this area.

All of the food and margaritas were very good. Our waiter Claudio was terrific. My only issue was that the music was ridiculously loud , so it was impossible to hear your conversations or the wait staff.

Our experience at Frida was fantastic. The reservation process was simple on OpenTable, and we spent no time waiting to be seated. Although we had to wait a little for anyone to come visit our table, the hostess picked up on it and took care of us right away. She checked in repeatedly to make sure we had everything we needed. Even sitting next to the bar and front door, we never felt overwhelmed with noise or a crowd. The drinks were outstanding. The Rivera was a smoky cloud of yum, the Empress fit for a queen, and the Aji Amarillo Mezcalita went down warm and smooth. Bottles of Jarrito’s pineapple for the non-drinkers rounded off our drink order. The food truly amazing. The esquites were creamy and spicy, the guac chunky and so easy to devour. If you enjoy ramen, their Birria ramen cannot be missed. I cannot skip fish tacos if they are on the menu, and they were among the best ever. My wife and daughter devoured their birria tacos, and my picky teenager proudly exclaimed as he scraped the bottom of his Lomo Saltado, “and I even ate the vegetables!” Alas, we were too full for dessert, that’s for our next visit!

The food was very good and everyone was very nice, but they completely rushed us. They take reservations for up to 9:45pm. We had a 9:15pm reservation and the table was not ready (I believe due to a private event) until 9:30. Then they asked us to order everything through the dessert up front, saying several times that the kitchen guys want to leave. I appreciate not keeping the guys late to accommodate one table, but then do not take reservations after 9pm. For the table to not be ready and then to be rushed to put all courses in up front and then to have the waiter waiting to take each plate away prematurely is in poor taste. Hopefully, they align the schedule with expectations of the staff going forward, because the place has potential

Depends on who is going . But too noisy, not very good service and the food was not much to write home about.

There is variety in the menu. We needed gluten free, vegetarian and carnivores. Everyone found something tasty to eat. Presentation, very nice and the staff accommodating. Well done!!
