French Roast is reliably good. Today, I decided to stop ordering the same meal since F. R. has good variety to choose from. Indeed, the BLT was crammed full of delicious bacon and the home fries were nicely browned, but in the end, I really like my usual better, and deviating from that--Eggs Benedict/Florentine--will always be second rate. I just like that meal terrifically.

I’ve been to French Roast many times, and I always enjoy it. The atmosphere is lovely, the service is pleasant, and the food is tasty. This time, there was a delay to getting our food to the table after it was ready. So, the poached eggs on my dish were only warmish at best. As well, the whites were runny. That said, we were there during the brunch rush. So, a wonderful brunch, but there was room for improvement. Thank you as always!

First time dining here, came for an early brunch. Food was decent, but nothing I’d go out of my way to recommend. The main issue was that they were simply not set up for good service, and the overall experience was not pleasant. My French onion soup came out before our coffees, and when the coffee finally came, no milk or sugar, so I had to ask for some. By the time our waitress brought the milk and sugar my coffee was already cold, so I asked for a hot coffee. She asked if she could reheat my coffee, which was an americano, so obviously the only way to reheat it would be to microwave it or add hot drip coffee to it, neither of which sounded good, so I told her I just wanted a fresh one. Instead of leaving the first coffee and bringing me the fresh one later, she inexplicably took the first coffee away that I had already sipped, leaving me with no coffee. By the time the fresh coffee came we were almost finished with our entrees. Waitress apologized but then left the coffee on the check. By that point I was too over the whole experience to complain and the waitress looked stressed enough, so I didn’t want to add to it. Part of it was her fault in handling it, part of it was clearly their systems. Just not a very customer-first experience. Aside from this, it was just all around slow and bad service, and considering how long this restaurant has been open you would think they’d have better systems in place to keep things smooth when they get busy. We live in the area, and were hoping this would be a nice go-to restaurant, but this first experience left a bad taste in our mouths. Doubt we’ll come back or recommend it to friends.

Great place for lunch. The menu has something for everyone; the service was attentive and prompt, but we never felt rushed. Perfect spot to meet a friend!

Lovely, attentive waitress until I got busy and then it took me asking three different servers to please bring the cream cheese that was supposed to come with my bagel and the hot sauce that was supposed to come with my companions omelette.

French Roast is our favorite place to meet and eat. Tonight we each chose classic French dishes — coq au vin for me and duck leg confit for my friend. We almost couldn’t chat during dinner because we were each so focused on our dish!! Our server was lovely and just left us alone to eat and chat!!

Service is always outstanding. Pan seared tuna-- the best. Our go to restaurant, we hardly go elsewhere.
