My second visit here. Prices for lunch are quite reasonable, and the food is good. Outdoor seating is lovely especially since the weather was perfect. However, service was a bit sullen and lacking any personality. The WORST thing was that before my friend arrived, a RAT ran out from the restaurant, crossed the sidewalk and made it to Broadway. Wait staff chased it, and apparently seemed to kill it with some type of spray, or perhaps beat it to death. Fortunately my table was at far side of outdoor terrace so I didn't get a close-up view of the creature's demise. I did later see staff pouring what looked like bleach on the area. I am a life-long New Yorker, and not particularly squeamish, but this was too much for me. I chose not to share the incident with my friend from out-of-town.

Always a delight, brunch or dinner. The cocktails are easily the best in the UWS and a great wine list . Everyone who works here is friendly and welcoming. I come often and have never had a bad experience.

Great spot for brunch with friends. Delicious consistent food and a creative cocktail list , we all worked our way through the “ Les spritz” section, each one was delicious. Service is always super friendly and on top of things without being intrusive. Make reservations this place is always packed and bustling . After you visit you will understand why this place has been hopping for close to 30 years and still is fresh !!!

I took a dear friend to French Toast Friday evening before listening to jazz at the nearby Center at West Park! The restaurant’s eclectic decor, attentive staff and delicious food were punctuated when staff brought a lit candle on a dish of Crème brûlée and got other diners to join them in singing happy birthday to my friend. They deserved nothing less than a five-star rating!! Later that evening, I urged friends to dine at French Toast and they too raved about the food and service! We shall all be back!

A very welcoming local restaurant. The food and drinks are always excellent. We do find it too noisy, that’s our only complaint.
