It was a busy day, and we were in no hurry. Sitting outside for dining on the patio has a stunning view of the St Clair River, the Bluewater Bridge, and watercraft-including beautiful sailboats and freighters. Staff was very busy, doing their best, but patrons were impatient. Service did take awhile, but not so long we felt forgotten. With the gorgeous weather and that view, why be in a hurry? Chicken sandwich was a little too thick for practical eating, needed a little more care with slicing and assembly to be able to pick it up and eat it. My husband enjoyed his bbq rib dinner. Prices are about what you expect to pay. The buttermilk marinated calamari was the highlight of the meal-the best calamari we have ever had-tender, light and tasty breading, and not oily or greasy from frying. Freighters is a delightful place to eat and enjoy a view. I would recommend it to those who appreciate outdoor dining with a view. It was perfect for the special occasion of Father’s Day.

Table was dirty when we were seated and food was not that great. Disappointing experience overall, but the manager did work to make things right. The server was great.

Nice atmosphere and we had a good view of freighters passing through the channel. Fish and chips were very good especially the fries. Very generous portions and reasonably priced. One in the party had a gluten allergy and the menu had very little to offer.

GREAT night. Open table made it nice. Showed up for my 30th anniversary. I was led to a table overlooking the water. Perfect night.

The room is open, airy, not noisy, with a beautiful view. Dining was leisurely, not rushed. The food was excellent.

Service was slow and buffet was empty near before 10 and not refilled until someone complained and we had already eaten the old last available.

My daughter treated my sister and I to the Mother's Day buffet. We were seated by the window as requested. I appreciated the new furniture throughout the bar and restaurant. We had a lovely server and I am sorry to say I did not get her name. First of all, let me say my daughter and I are long time servers in the industry and we recognize that Mother's Day dining out is typically very busy and not a great way to judge a restaurant. Having said that.......There was not so much as a salt/pepper shaker on our table. We weren't served right away but were aware of the business around us, so patiently waited. When we got to the first table of appetizers/salads, we were disappointed that there was very little to choose from on those tables. The hot food was mediocre at best. There were no plates close to the hot food so if you chose to bypass appetizer/salad tables, you could not go ahead and choose from hot entrees. The hand carved station was very nice and the steak I had was great. The desserts were really lame and what was there was not very appetizing or enticing. Again, I would not judge a restaurant by a Mother's Day scenario. Fortunately, I have been to Freighters many times outside of a holiday and found the food, atmosphere and view very nice. Bottom line, I have been to other Mother's Day buffets and this was was only mediocre for the price.

First there was absolutely no mention this was a buffet only for Mother’s Day. And $37 / person. I specifically chose this option to be able to order of the menu. Next our service was nice enough but had no clue what was even on the buffet. So no problem we went up and looked. No salt / pepper or anything on the table. I spent $350 for a brunch for myself and 6 guests. Quality of food was mediocre at best. Half the stuff was out on the buffet. If I’d spent $20 / person my review….and expectations…would’ve been much more appropriate.
