Mia Francesca features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. It was one of the first restaurants in Chicago to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, simple, rustic cooking, friendly service, and fair prices.

Waiting for a table at the beautiful antique bar is part of the charm of Mia Francesca. The plush upstairs dining room and lounge can be reserved for private events, as can the more intimate coach house tucked away behind the restaurant. In the summer, al fresco dining is also available on a charming cobblestone terrace.

We loved everything, especially the rigatoni with sausage. I would love to see a grilled calamari option on the menu and happy hour specials. I also enjoyed the Tiramisu. Service was great, considering it was a very busy Valentine’s Day evening. We will definitely be back!

The food was great but the menu was pretty minimal, unfortunately. I wish there were more side options

Waited a bit for our table. But took longer for our waiter to stop by to get us water and drinks. Waiter was not attentive to us throughout the evening. Had to wave him down each time we needed something. It was disappointing.

They forgot to give roses to people. They forgot to bring us bread. Too busy that server didn’t come to get dinner order for a while. The bruschette bread was too oily. The spicy veggie pasta was good. The lemon chicken was good.

Going to a restaurant on Valentine’s Day for the first time is always a risk, as it’s usually their busiest day of the year and service isn’t always the best. But there were no lapses whatsoever during our experience, with the exception that the host didn’t notice our request in the reservation for a booth instead of a table. Thankfully they were very accommodating in making the shift. Our server was fantastic, as was the food. We thoroughly enjoyed the chicken limone and calamari linguine. We split their house salad, which was delicious, as was the sundae for dessert. Giving single stem roses to all of the ladies and playing 80s love songs was also a great touch! We will definitely be returning to this location again! Kudos to all of the managers and staff for making this Valentine’s Day dining experience one of our best!

One of my favorite places to eat. I actually enjoy just sitting at bar enjoying there drinks and appetizers.

Rene was outstanding! He took great care of us and wouldn't be out of place in a 3 michelin starred restaurant. The food was excellent and the pacing was perfect. Thank you! We will of course be back again soon.

A wonderful dining experience…service great, food delicious, price average…wait staff most attentive. We took home left overs and staff added more sauce and bread with cheese and oil. We will be back!!
