Mia Francesca features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. It was one of the first restaurants in Chicago to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, simple, rustic cooking, friendly service, and fair prices.

Waiting for a table at the beautiful antique bar is part of the charm of Mia Francesca. The plush upstairs dining room and lounge can be reserved for private events, as can the more intimate coach house tucked away behind the restaurant. In the summer, al fresco dining is also available on a charming cobblestone terrace.

I have always been partial to Francesca's. Clark Street and the Bryn Mawr (now closed) locations were my go-to's. So I was glad to see new location in Lincolnwood. The food was great. We started with an appetizer and salad, each to share. The lentil and spinach was outstanding and the asparagus salad was fine. Our entrees were a vegetarian bucatini and agnoleti. I cleaned my plate. While the food was most important, the service was nice and appreciative. I have only one complaint, and I suppose few people notice it. But the music was annoying. A "department store" play list? At least turn it down, turn it off, or play something more dinner-like. Frenetic paced music is a distraction.

My fault for going here on a Saturday night during restaurant week. Super busy, of course. Everything started off fine. Then our appetizers came before our drinks, which, whatever, also fine. Appetizers were delicious. Meatball and bruschetta. But then my ginger ale glass had a giant crack in it. Sent it back. Fine. Then the main course took at least another 30 minutes ( I think I’m being generous). I like my pasta al dente, but this was just plain undercooked and not particularly warm. Definitely not the best carbonara I’ve had. At this point we asked for dessert and the check. Dessert was very good. Chocolate cake and apple crumble. We took the pasta home, but just decided to get rid of it. Service was erratic. Our server was genuinely nice, but obviously overwhelmed. Can’t say that we are in any hurry to go back.

This was our second time at Francesca's. Even though it was very busy, service was very good; attentive and prompt. Not only our server, but all the individuals clearing plates and bringing water, etc. were great. Food was very good as well. Pasta cooked perfectly and sauces interesting and tasty.

Everything was great but waitstaff seemed to be overwhelmed. After waiting 15 minutes, we had to flag someone down and ask if we had a waiter assigned to us.

Finally paid a visit to the new location. Excellent food, ambience, and service. Our waiter Jeff was incredible! He connected with our group and pushed the whole experience over the top! Will definitely return!

Our waiter, Jeff, was FANTASTIC. Definitely would ask to sit at his table, again. And the Manager, Paisley, was so kind and welcoming. Loved the entire experience.
