Drawing inspiration from the region’s history and natural surroundings, the 156-seat freestanding restaurant reflects elemental themes of wood, water, iron, and fire, reminiscent of the carriage houses and blacksmith shops that once dotted the landscape. The centerpiece of Forge & Vine is an eight-foot wood fired grill and open kitchen with counter seating where guests can enjoy dinner while interacting with the chef. Welcoming residents as well as visitors to the area, Forge & Vine offers a strong sense of place with a design sensibility that brings in the outside with floor to ceiling windows offering breathtaking pastoral views of Gibbett Hill. The restaurant boasts spacious and casual bar with service inside and out and features classic and comfortable cuisine sourced from the best produce, seafood, and meats that New England offers.

My wife had braised ribs, and I had steak frites. Both were cooked to perfection and the service provided by Robert was excellent. For those with a moderate appetite, be aware that the quantities of food are substantial. Salads are huge, so you may want to opt for the half size. The only downside is that the noise level is quite high.

The hostess staff was excellent. The server didn’t have much of a personality. The food was not good at all. My beef tenderloin was chewy brussels sprouts were undercooked. We ordered the pumpkin cheesecake, it tasted nothing like cheesecake. It was dry and tasted like a spice cake will not be returning The value for the money was subpar.

Lavender salmon was great as was the short ribs! The flowerless chocolate torte was very rich and the sour cherries and almonds complemented it perfectly!

The dining room was so beautifully decorated, and the view of Gibbet Hill breathtaking! The food was delicious, albeit a bit expensive for our taste. The waitress was prompt, kind and helpful as we asked for a picture.

Fabulous restaurant, food is prepared to perfection, ambience that warms and welcomes, and staff who are friendly and professional (and remember us from prior visits). We have the means and make the 40 minute drive a few times a month because we love everything about the place. What a special treat it is in the summer to gaze out the glass in back upon what surely appears as Vermont, with the hills and grass, and in years past, cows grazing. Forge and Vine is a special place and we will forever be patrons.

Food and service were very good. The braised short rib was very tender and delicious. The server was very attentive and friendly. We were seated in a side room not in the main dining area which had a fire which was nice but the room looked like an enclosed sunroom which wasn't as nice as the main dining area.

My dining partner had a a salad with salmon and said it was good. I had a flatbread and it was also good. I think the food and ambiance was great. It was a little pricey, but you get what you pay for!

We were looking for an upscale casual restaurant in the area that was open on a Sunday night — a task more difficult than it sounds. We found Forge and Vine on a whim and decided to give it a shot — and we’re so glad we did! First off, the food was fantastic. My fiancée and I both got the steak frites meal and it was cooked perfectly and was so flavorful. Even the sides were delicious. The portions were perfect. If I wasn’t so full, I would have ordered another. Drinks were also good, and so was the service! We didn’t have any issue making a last minute reservation on a Sunday night. While it’s a 30 minute drive from our home, it’s definitely a spot we’ll return to in the future. The menu is off (in a good, unique way) and we’d like to try out other dishes.
