Too large portions. Could only eat 40%of it which means it was a waste. Too much of the same food such a cauliflower and just few florets would have been just as nice. Maybe more tasty food. Left feeling so full it wasn't enjoyable.

Good choices on the menu, we were really spoilt for choice so we ended up booking lots of starters with some sides. We ordered the mushroom sharer, goats cheese croquettes, trio of Yorkshire puddings, pork cooked in different ways, some chips and some summer greens. The food was well presented and very tasty! We enjoyed all of it and it was the perfect amount for a nice lunch. Service was good and atmosphere nice. Price of the food was good etc. we both. Also had a pudding which isn’t like us at all and the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I’ve had! My only gripe is that the trio of Yorkshire had beef missing in one so it was only filled with horseradish (a little spicy on its own ) and this starter was quite cold when served (the others were nice and hot) The bread on the mushroom starter was really hard like a crostini. Toasted sourdough or ciabatta would be ideal and easier to bite into as the bread served fell to pieces as you bit into it. Overall a lovely, lovely lunch!

Lovely lunchtime dining experience yesterday. An extremely busy day in York so was nice to get out of the crowds. Forest was lovely and calm, decorated lovely, food was amazing, I had the mini Yorkshire puds to start then the halloumi, and a glass of wine. Service perfect. Would definitely return.

An absolutely delicious and well priced dinner for the three of us at the end of a long day. Our waitress was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was calming which was a welcome retreat from the busy streets outside. We can highly recommend.

Lovely relaxed setting and food was excellent. Our servers were very friendly and chatted to my daughter about her interest in York university as they were both students. Great value for money and portions generous. This is our third visit and we will always go back when in York.
