Best afternoon I’ve had, and I’ve had a few! The teas were perfectly selected to go with each course and all the food was super tasty. Great service and lovely ambience, I can’t fault it.

Pleasant enough and a great location, although the main course I fancied from the daytime menu posted on the internet (Duo of Pork Cheek & Collar - it's still there a day later) had been replaced by a salmon dish. So I had sausages instead, which were almost, but not quite, overcooked. Service was a little slow (a 2 course lunch took about 2.5 hours or so), but we weren't in a hurry. The gents' toilet (there's only one) does not flush effectively. I was attracted to the place because of a startlingly positive 10/10 YouTube review, which wasn't reflected by our experience on the day - we made a trip from Berwick on Tweed specially to try it - but it was a solid 6 plus out of ten, so perfectly OK.

Seated opposite open door to outdoor seating area, so did become a little chilly. They had run out of the Whitby crab dish. We ordered wine but we're told they had run out wine glasses & then we had to remind staff about our wine. The food we ordered tasted good, however the burger still had a plastic film on it. We were offered a second dessert as we were finishing the first. Maybe the staff were under pressure on a busy Saturday night.

Came today for our mother’s birthday and brought out cockerpoo pup. Couldn't fault anything, mum would have preferred a ground floor loo as she uses a stick but other than that, faultless, highly Recommend the posh fish finger sandwiches- only disappointment was we couldn't eat it all and therefore missed out on desert! We will be back. Thank you 🤩

Service was impeccable and food was delicious. We went before visiting the Minster for the light show.

Bit disappointed with menu choice , it was a Sunday but we weren’t after a Sunday lunch but what we had was lovely

All a bit strange really. It is very bright lighting, giving it a canteen feel. I don’t know if it was because they weren’t busy, but we had two waitresses almost competing to get our orders, they were both very pleasant & we laughed about it, but it was odd. Also, the mushroom sharer, whilst very tasty, was presented as though it was for one person; dipping into a bowl of sauce with our bread and fishing out mushrooms. The food was OK, but we honestly wouldn’t rush back I’m afraid.
