Forcella is bringing old-world Italian food to the North End of Boston.
Nino Trotta — who owns Forcella alongside his girlfriend, general manager and co-owner Shannon MacGowan, and his brother, wine director Christian Trotta — say that the cozy, candlelit vibe of the restaurant sets Forcella apart in a sea of massive North End restaurants.
“It’s tiny, 30 seats,” he said. “It’s perfect for a date.”
The kitchen team has designed a menu that includes dishes from all over Italy, with a slight lean toward Naples, where the Trotta family is from. Primi dishes include meatballs, crispy quail, while pastas range from linguine alle vongole and risotto to gnocchi with braised rabbit. Salmon, ribeye, round out the menu.

    Stay away. Management is the worst. Cancelled our reservation even though half of our party had checked in. They were so confused. Plenty of other great, well run places in the North End to dine instead of this place.

    Food was excellent and service was spot on. We were outside so it was a little chilly until they started the outside heaters. Think they were waiting on propane tanks to arrive. There was a lovely atmosphere and we had a wonderful evening. Just as a note if you have mobility issues maybe outside is not a good option as the stairs to the bathrooms are extremely steep. For us it wasn’t an issue but I could imagine it would be an issue for some.

    My husband and I were in town visiting family. We stumbled upon Forcella last minute and decided to try it out. The night started great, we were able to be seated early and inside versus the outdoor reservation that we had at a later time. Walking in the restaurant is very cute and quaint. We were seated in between a very energetic table that made it very difficult to hear my husband across the table. The noise from the table and the music made it very difficult to hear. Our service was fantastic and the food was great. We would consider trying again when we’re in the area again.

    We had a wonderful dining experience. Service was perfect, attentive but not intrusive. I have high standards for rye and bourbon drinks and the Sicilian sazerac met and exceeded them. The food was delicious and the portions were generous without being overwhelming. The ambiance was cozy, comfortable and romantic in a smaller space with few tables. The noise level quiet to moderate so conversation was easily heard

    Wine dinner was outstanding! Christian offered insightful commentary on each wine pairing and as always, the food was outstanding.

    I think Forcella is one of the best restaurants in Boston always a great meal and a great night

    Overall, a wonderful dining experience. Our waitress was great and the service was quite fast. Girlfriend has the Seafood Diavolo while I had the Rabbit Gnocci, ( first time have rabbit ever) which were very delicious in their own unique way. Seating is a little tight but for a very small interior, understandable. Only downside, NO DESSERT. On top of it being a special occasion for my girlfriend’s birthday, even the waitress seemed sad that there was nothing to offer. But she did recommend some bakeries close by that are open late if we were craving a sweet tooth. ( Modern Bakery is where we went, about a block away) Would definitely say we will be back to try their patio dining when it’s warm again.
