Forcella is bringing old-world Italian food to the North End of Boston.
Nino Trotta — who owns Forcella alongside his girlfriend, general manager and co-owner Shannon MacGowan, and his brother, wine director Christian Trotta — say that the cozy, candlelit vibe of the restaurant sets Forcella apart in a sea of massive North End restaurants.
“It’s tiny, 30 seats,” he said. “It’s perfect for a date.”
The kitchen team has designed a menu that includes dishes from all over Italy, with a slight lean toward Naples, where the Trotta family is from. Primi dishes include meatballs, crispy quail, while pastas range from linguine alle vongole and risotto to gnocchi with braised rabbit. Salmon, ribeye, round out the menu.

    Nestled in Boston's iconic North End, Forcella offers an elevated Italian dining experience that is both authentic and innovative. The intimate atmosphere, with its chic decor and warm lighting, sets the stage for a memorable meal. The menu is a celebration of Italian flavors. The Caesar salad and an order of their meatballs was a great way to start our meal. My lasagna was rich and flavorful, a true highlight. My wife went for the gnocchi and rabbit dish and could not stop raving about it. She gave me a bite. Yes, it was spectacular! Keep in mind that dessert and coffee are not available as an ending to your meal, but who has room for it anyway. This did not detract from our dining experience by any means. Service was excellent. Forcella is a must-visit for anyone seeking refined Italian cuisine in a cozy, casual setting.

    The service could have been better. It felt rushed as some of us had our plates removed when some of us were still eating. The food was excellent.

    They do not have a full liquor license only cordials despite half their restaurant being a bar. Limited menu with no dessert options (or maybe we weren’t offered?). So many other great options I wouldn’t recommend this one.

    The restaurant is very small but cozy and inviting and the service was very good. The food was ok - we ordered the mussels appetizer and it was average at best - I've had much better versions. The kitchen made an extra meatballs appetizer and our server gave it to us gratuitously - those were amazing - both the sauce and the meatballs - they were actually the best thing we had that night and we didn't even order them. I ordered the spaghetti al pesto and added salmon - the salmon was ok - slightly over the medium rare and not much seasoning - the basil pesto was too much - very thick with basil (and I LOVE basil) and dry so not enough of a broth/sauce to enjoy the pasta.. I ate a small amount but didn't enjoy it - with the added protein it was $40 entree. My daughter ordered the rigatoni alla amatriciana... hers was the better pasta dish although it was a little salty with the guiancale but overall good, the red sauce is good. We would visit again because the ambience and service were both very good - I definitely would not order the spaghetti al pesto or any salmon option.. skip the mediocre mussels and order the meatballs instead. Other restaurants in the North End have been better but there are much worse options too

    Decided to visit for my birthday because of a glowing referral from a neighbor of ours in Charlestown. We frequently walk into the North End for dinner and have been "in search of" our favorite restaurant. Well... we may have found it. Everything was excellent - food, service, wine list, and ambiance. Highly recommended.

    Visited our favorite restaurant again and had another wonderful meal!! We were seated right away at a cozy window table and greeted warmly by all. Kept it simple tonight with a Caesar salad followed by the rigatoni alla barese and the spaghetti fra diavolo, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. Already looking forward to going back to Forcella!

    We booked a last minute reservation and it exceeded our expectations! My son and husband love bolognese and were blown away!! Thank you! We will be back!
