Located inside the Westley Hotel in the heart of Downtown Calgary, Fonda Fora is an exciting new contemporary Mexican restaurant brought to you by the folks at Thank You Hospitality.

Food and Beverage Magazine 30 under 30 winner, Chef Emilio Montenegro has crafted a menu based on his upbringing in Northern Mexico and his journey in kitchens across the world. Much of our concept is based around the heirloom corn of Mexico. We import four types of corn from a collective of heirloom farms in Mexico in order to provide the best product we can. We process this corn from raw and turn it into masa for dishes all across our menu, like our Sope, Tamal, and of course, Tortillas. There is a saying in Mexico that we live by at Fonda Fora: "Sin maiz no hay pais," meaning without corn, there is no country. Maiz is the lifeblood of Mexican cuisine, and we are excited to present it to you as it should be.

A most enjoyable evening. The Servers and bartending staff were courteous, bright and provided excellent Service.

Had a great diner with a friend. It was quiet enough that we could have a great conversation, without having to struggle to hear. The waitress was great, very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and unique

The food is a good mix between authentic mexican and a modern take. The sopecitos were delicious as well as the tinga tostadas. We also tried Flor de Calabaza tacos and those were good. The Salmon crudo was a not our favourite, the sauce was a bit creamy and thick and it overpowered the rest of the dish, it made the avocado mousse dollops pointless as they got lost in the creamy-citric taste of the sauce. We had to remind our server of our 4th ordered dish as we were done with the first three and it still hadn’t come. Ambiance is great specially in the patio and it makes for a nice break from some of the other whitewashed mexican restaurants in Calgary. Only Fonda Flora and Milpa bring authentic taste with a modern twist well.

Great food, authentic and excellent quality. Some options were sold out because of the freshness of the food.

Amazing experience! The food was delicious, fresh, interesting and fun menu options. The drinks were tasty (hello margaritas!) and the desserts so refreshing. The Burrata was so good, light combo perfect to compliment the spicier options!!

Great service and recommendations from our server. Food was served quickly and variety was really appreciated. Great for sharing. Yummy cocktails and the space is very cool. Easy parking. Will return.

First time there and was very impressed! Server was awesome, went through the menu thoroughly and directed us well! Food was delicious and tough to narrow down. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!

A group of 12 of us came here for cocktails & appies before a work event. All the drinks were delicious and the server was happy to recommend small plates to share. Top notch experience.
