Located inside the Westley Hotel in the heart of Downtown Calgary, Fonda Fora is an exciting new contemporary Mexican restaurant brought to you by the folks at Thank You Hospitality.

Food and Beverage Magazine 30 under 30 winner, Chef Emilio Montenegro has crafted a menu based on his upbringing in Northern Mexico and his journey in kitchens across the world. Much of our concept is based around the heirloom corn of Mexico. We import four types of corn from a collective of heirloom farms in Mexico in order to provide the best product we can. We process this corn from raw and turn it into masa for dishes all across our menu, like our Sope, Tamal, and of course, Tortillas. There is a saying in Mexico that we live by at Fonda Fora: "Sin maiz no hay pais," meaning without corn, there is no country. Maiz is the lifeblood of Mexican cuisine, and we are excited to present it to you as it should be.

Excellent food. Love the sharing plates concept and there are ample portion sizes and lots of choices to suit everyone’s tastes. Definitely recommend this place for business lunch or dinner.

So disappointed by our recent visit. Unfortunately it seemed as though our server was overwhelmed since it took a while to get drinks and our food ordered. After an hour and 15 minutes we had only got our drinks and appetizers. We ordered the salsa tasting which was alright and then the salmon crudo. I have never tasted salmon so fishy - it was actually so gross we decided to cancel the rest of the food we had ordered and left. I don’t know if the salmon was bad or was just really low quality but it left such a bad taste in our mouths we couldn’t think to keep eating. My last experience here was great but I’m not sure we’ll be coming back now.

Came here on a whim for my wife's birthday. In our party we had the braised lamb, pulled pork, steak, and salmon dishes. They were all delicious. The atmosphere was excellent. Not so loud you couldn't hear each other talking, and not so quiet that you felt like everyone else in the restaurant could listen in on your conversation. And our server was absolutley amazing.

$50 for mushroom fundito that was 50% oil 48% mushrooms and 2% cheese. My,guess would be a $4 food cost. You can get much better non authentic mexican food for half the price at many other YYC restaurants. Anejo/Blanco etc much better food quality and value.

A most enjoyable evening. The Servers and bartending staff were courteous, bright and provided excellent Service.

Had a great diner with a friend. It was quiet enough that we could have a great conversation, without having to struggle to hear. The waitress was great, very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and unique

The food is a good mix between authentic mexican and a modern take. The sopecitos were delicious as well as the tinga tostadas. We also tried Flor de Calabaza tacos and those were good. The Salmon crudo was a not our favourite, the sauce was a bit creamy and thick and it overpowered the rest of the dish, it made the avocado mousse dollops pointless as they got lost in the creamy-citric taste of the sauce. We had to remind our server of our 4th ordered dish as we were done with the first three and it still hadn’t come. Ambiance is great specially in the patio and it makes for a nice break from some of the other whitewashed mexican restaurants in Calgary. Only Fonda Flora and Milpa bring authentic taste with a modern twist well.

Amazing experience! The food was delicious, fresh, interesting and fun menu options. The drinks were tasty (hello margaritas!) and the desserts so refreshing. The Burrata was so good, light combo perfect to compliment the spicier options!!
