Located inside the Westley Hotel in the heart of Downtown Calgary, Fonda Fora is an exciting new contemporary Mexican restaurant brought to you by the folks at Thank You Hospitality.

Food and Beverage Magazine 30 under 30 winner, Chef Emilio Montenegro has crafted a menu based on his upbringing in Northern Mexico and his journey in kitchens across the world. Much of our concept is based around the heirloom corn of Mexico. We import four types of corn from a collective of heirloom farms in Mexico in order to provide the best product we can. We process this corn from raw and turn it into masa for dishes all across our menu, like our Sope, Tamal, and of course, Tortillas. There is a saying in Mexico that we live by at Fonda Fora: "Sin maiz no hay pais," meaning without corn, there is no country. Maiz is the lifeblood of Mexican cuisine, and we are excited to present it to you as it should be.

First time there and was very impressed! Server was awesome, went through the menu thoroughly and directed us well! Food was delicious and tough to narrow down. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!

A group of 12 of us came here for cocktails & appies before a work event. All the drinks were delicious and the server was happy to recommend small plates to share. Top notch experience.

Fonda Fora could have been the perfect place to dine, except for the service. While I don’t mind that the kitchen was slow and the server took a long time to attend to us, what really ruined the experience was the unprofessional behavior of the senior server. She was clearly in charge, with everyone else being new, but her attitude was unacceptable. She was rude, impatient, and even snapped at customers. On the other hand, the new server was much more pleasant and helpful. No matter how good the food is, bad service makes you reconsider whether it's worth revisiting the restaurant. I hope they reassign the senior server to a role where she doesn't have to interact with customers. If that happens, I could easily give Fonda Fora 5 stars.

We started the night at Fonda for dinner and drinks, the margaritas were fantastic followed by shots! Our server/servers it was a real team effort on the patio answered all questions and made recommendations. Dinner was an absolute delight and will be adding this spot to our Margarita crawl we do every year. 10/10 would recommend!

Food flavours were good but tacos and tortillas were cold and salsas were all sweet. We tried multiple salsas and we got charged for each one and none were good. You need to have authentic hot and mild salsas available in a Mexican restaurant. All salsas offered had either pineapple, or apple or something sweet on them.
