If the goal were to eat as much meat as you can in the shortest possible time, Fogo de Chao would be the right place. The food was pretty good as compared to other Brazilian steak houses, but not like a top steak restaurant, but of course we didn’t opt for the expensive Waygu or Tomahawk steak. My main gripe is that my group of 5 people were unable to hold a conversation because the servers were coming fast and furious. Our main server was very nice, but repeatedly walked up and asked us questions without noticing that she interrupted us every time. It became almost comical. It was also very noisy and we must’ve been directly under an AC vent. So…. Fast, furious, loud and cold, but delicious…

The meat was really good, moist and tender, however extremely salty. The vegetables from the cool bar nicely with the meat to balance out that saltiness. The servers were very polite and patient. The ambience was nice although the music could’ve been a little bit quieter.

We had an early dinner this week at Fogo de Chao in Short Pump, VA. The dining room and bar area is modern, bright, and comfortable. A modest sized room, with an open kitchen located behind the Market Table that contained the expansive self-serve food bar. Many good side items available there. I believe FdC assumed the space of a former restaurant there, but the ambience captures the upscale steakhouse feel well. Service was very attentive and a good staff overall. The main issue we encountered on our initial visit was that if you select an item from the Entree single meat choices, compared to the full Churrasco Experience that includes signature cuts, we were served a lot of end cuts from the skewers. All tableside cuts were served as thin medallions or small slices. We chose top sirloin or "picanha" entree that included a well-stocked Market Table and received the traditional accompaniments. Although most rounds of tableside cuts were juicy and flavorful we were a bit disappointed with the tenderness of the medallion cut pieces we received. There is an expected fat cap on the sirloin so we trimmed away much of it. We would return but instead try the full Churrasco for a hopefully better experience of the main course.

Quality of the food was good, better than a similar restaurant close by. However, the service was lacking on the night we were there. We did not get water refills, had to remind a different waitress than ours of a wine order because our waitress was no where to be found, then remind them again on refills ordered on another drink at the table. We didn’t get a ton of meat options, there were some things that were never even brought to our table. At the end of the meal, we had to wait a very long time for our check, and ended up asking the manager for it when we saw him. We had 6:30 reservations, finished eating around 7:15, and still didn’t leave until close to 8.

I recently revisited following an initial poor experience soon after they opened. What a difference five months makes. The meats were delightful, perfectly presented at medium rare to rare. The service was on point, night and day, compared to my first visit. There were six of us dining, and everyone was impressed with the food, service, and ambiance. We will all return. Thank you to Ire and his team for an incredible evening.

Our party of 4 did the $39 best of Brazil experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Meats were fresh and hot. Salad bar was fresh and had a good variety of items. Caipirinhas looked and tasted amazing. We will be back for the full experience soon. We’re definitely happy we tried the best of Brazil experience as a first time. Best for your buck. If you haven’t been, take advantage of this deal!

The service was fast and courteous. We didn’t have to wait on anything. The food was fantastic and fresh. Deserts were delicious! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Great meat but not a lot of choice for the side dishes… we were experiencing other Fogo de Chao, especially the one in DC and the buffet is more attractive…
