We booked a table at Flute for a celebration meal. We were encouraged on booking to describe the celebration - but I don’t know why as it was never mentioned again. The decoration is nice and the restaurant has a nice feel to it. The food is excellent and was thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. But the service was inattentive - even ordering drinks took forever. And dessert cutlery plonked in the middle of the table with a “help yourself”. And despite arriving early evening into an almost empty room we were placed right next to the door on a table that felt crowded by people coming and going at the same time as being far too close to the couple having a romantic meal next to my elbow. My advice to the owners would be to train the staff, make sure there is always one of the team in the restaurant rather than at the bar and remove one table. That would make all the difference. A nice meal but not the celebration we’d hoped for.

Really lovely food. Even sides are imaginative and well cooked. Nice small menu indicating everything fresh and cooked to order. Nice wine list too.

The service was prompt, friendly and engaging. The food was very good, quality of the fish was spot on. The portions of each dish was right for us. Our main courses of hake in a hot and sour broth and seafood linguine were inventive and delightful. A very pleasant evening complemented by the staff, who were excellent.

For a restaurant that has a predominance of fish on it's menu, the shell fish shouldn't have required to be sent back as they were unopened when served. Some of the waiting staff didn't appear to know what they were doing.

Overall, just average I had expected more. Fish pie was just fish mixed with mash, not a good layer of fish in sauce with mash piped on top. The skatepark wing was good but served upside down, which made eating difficult. Brocollini was served cold!!

We visited on a quite Wednesday night in August and while the team where lovely and welcoming the service was very slow and the food not as good as we hoped. Sole Burger was below average while the Seafood linguine was nice. Unfortunately our order was wrong and one of the deserts was totally missed. The server did offer one of the deserts FOC to compensate for the burger which was well received.

We went in for an oysters and champagne birthday treat. Oysters were magnificent - best we have had and we lived in Australia for the past ten years. Fresh in that morning from Ireland. We will be going back for more. William and the team were very attentive and interested to talk about the food and wine - great customer service.

I think we went on an anomalous day, as they were short staffed. So there were long waits, the waiter who was doing everything was trying his best though. However, when food did arrive it was disappointing. Oysters, presented poorly. 6 crammed together in a dish which would've suited 3 max. No accompanying teaspoon(?) Lacked flavour. Not very nice mackerel pate. Overly creamy. Could've bought nicer in Sainsburys/m & s or Waitrose. Ungenerous servings of slightly stale sourdough to accompany the paté and my daughter's mussels. Mussels were OK. Wouldn't go again, wouldn't recommend. The restaurant unprompted gave a free round of drinks as they recognised the service level had been poor. Perhaps the kitchens were understaffed as well as the serving staff? Next time we fancy fish in Bath we won't choose this restaurant.

It felt incredibly overpriced for what you get, and I would expect to have a table where I wasn't jammed against a wall in a corner. The waitress was friendly but we had no further attendance until we had to pay the bill. The Grande Mer Platter had a distinct lack of Seafood compared to what was advertised, poor selection of accompanying sauces. While we opted for a more expensive wine, we didn't think paying four times the value was very fair.
